I personally use either a very long breaker bar with socket. (like socket wrench with no ratchet movement.) I also use very long prybar but is hard with one person, so I usually use breaker bar which gives you plenty of movement.

Why cant I get the serpentine belt on to the tensioner pulley?

You either got the wrong parts or you need to move the tensioner just a little bit farther.

How do I install serpentine belt for 2005 dodge ram 1500 5.7l

You will need a serpentine belt tool to release tension from belt. There should be a sprung loaded tensioner pulley ( on a leveler bolter to block) . The routing is printed on a sticker in the engine bay.

What is the pulley called that is to tighten the belt on a 1998 dodge ram 1500 4wd truck?

The accessory belt tensioner is what keeps the accessory drive belt tight, or you can purchase just the accessory belt tensioner pulley separate, however the complete unit should be replaced.

Where is the pully release on1991 dodge stealth

The 6g72 has 3 belts. the Alternator belt is loosened by a horizontal bolt on the tensional pulley just to the left of the crank pulley. it will move the pulley down and loosen the tension. the power steering belt is loosened by a 14mm bolt on a bracket up and to the left of the crank pulley its a very unique bolt not hard to spot. the Timing belt is loosened by loosening a bolt on the tensioner pulley (it will have 2 small holes on it and will be above and left of crank pulley and right of the hydralic tensioner. contact me at spammyiam@aol.com if you need pictures.

How to replace belt

To change the serpentine belt is very easy, If you look carefully, you will find a pulley between your alternator and air conditioning pump, this is called the tensioner, In other words the pulley that pushes down the belt between the alternator and a/c pump. Place a 1/2 drive wrench to pull the tensioner up. This will loosen the belt for replacement. Hope this was helpful Good Luck =)

2004 dodge 1500 slt engine making weird sounds

That is a pretty vague problem and hard to diagnose. try removing the serpentine belt and check all your pulleys by hand. My first thought was the tensioner pulley that provides tension for the belt..

hi, you should find a serp. belt routing diagram on the cross member that supports your radiator. if not- disconnect neg batt terminal for safety. you'll need a long breaker bar metric. as most, if not all fasteners on your ram are in metric. cant remember right size socket, but just go through your metric set and "eyeball"it. once you have the proper socket-detention the belt by pulling breaker bar clockwise. remove old belt. it maybe useful to take a picture of how your old belt is routed with a camera equipped cell phone (if it is still on) so that if you get into trouble, you can look at the picture as a reference point. new serpentine belt install--insert new belt over the cooling fan route under crank pulley-over fan pulley, around p/s pump pulley,up and around a/c comp pulley, under idler pulley, over alternator pulley and finally around tensioner pulley. pull breaker bar clockwise to slip belt past and onto the tensioner pulley. release tension on tensioner. be sure to check tensioner indexing marks located on the tensioner arm this is to make sure the new belt is installed properly. reconnect neg batt cable to terminal-remove any hand tools from engine bay, start engine and observe belt operation. hope this helps!
