2003 echo oil light flickers


Well it could be an oil pressure problem, or a faulty oil pressure switch, or something in the wiring harness.
I would have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge.

oil pressure senor would be my first guess.if that checks out possible oil pick up blocked
or worst case worn crank bearings but i doubt it at the age of the car
fuel pressure side of it, could be possible fuel pump

because your truck is a 1995 the oil pump maybe weak or going out.

renew the alternator with a genuine bosch factory exchange unit ,unless the rpm is dropping below 500rpm then it will flicker on and off ,If this vehicle was just serviced then they should have sorted this idle thing out for you a service is not just a oil change and big bill it involves checking everything which includes this problem which should have been noted and sorted .Without model and year i couldnt tell you whats wrong with it

SUBJECT: Engine Oil Pressure Light Flicker
DATE: Oct. 15, 1999
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves adding a terminal/wire/vent to the oil pressure switch connector.

NOTE: THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.7L ENGINE.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
With a hot engine the oil pressure light may be on or flicker on at idle.

DIAGNOSIS:
Verify engine oil pressure as described on page 9-21 of the 1999 Concorde/Intrepid/LHS/300M service manual (Publication No. 81-270-9140). If engine oil pressure is within specification perform the Repair Procedure.

PARTS REQUIRED:
Qty Part No. Description
1 05017800AA Wire Terminal/Vent


REPAIR PROCEDURE:
Raise vehicle on a suitable hoist.
Remove engine oil pressure switch connector from switch.
Remove sealing dart from the empty cavity at the rear of the connector.
Pull terminal locking ring outward from front (switch) side of connector to gain access to terminal locking tabs.
Install wire terminal/vent, p/n 05017800AA, in place of the removed sealing dart. Slide locking ring back into place.
Attach the connector back on the oil pressure switch.
Spot tape the wire/vent to follow the harness towards the top of the engine compartment.

This could be as simple as being out of fuel. This is why I'd check this first:

When an engine is about to stall, the oil light may flicker on and off or stay on due to the engine not running fast enough to supply sufficient oil to the case for sensor detection.

Since this opens up a whole world of possibilities ranging from simply being out of fuel to a faulty in-tank pump not supplying fuel to the EFI, I'd advise you to have the car taken in for a professional diagnostic.

Furthermore, since this very well could also be an internal engine issue (i.e. bad oil pump that's caused poor compression over time due to excessive wear of the rings and cylinder walls), I'd not attempt to run it until a diagnostic can be done. Better safe than broke.

the flickering oil light is a common problem with the 2.7 engine. as long as the oil level is full and oil is changed regularly, and the light just flickers and doesnt stay on , shouldnt be a problem, or get the oil sending unit changed. the second problem car stallings sounds like either cam or crank position sensor. does the engine light come on. if so the code should tell you.

Flickering lights alond with the engine!


it sounds like the voltage regulator is faulty.........it is integrated into your altenator so you will want to have your charging system checked
