Hay carolyn, in regards to your issue you are having after washing your engine in your truck well in most cases this kind of thing is common. what had happened is water had gotten into some of the connections in your electrical system causing your truck not to start. all you should need to do is keep your hood up and just let your engine dry out for a few and all should be well. hope the little info i have helps you out if you could let me no what the end result is thanks

I washed the engine on my 1994 Corvette and now it won't start

I'm assuming that since you drove it home that the engine still cranks over and that it is not a battery issue like one of the other answers. If it does, but still doesn't start or tries but doesn't run smooth, that you may have gotten moisture under the distributor cap. That wouldn't show just by looking at the engine bay. You would have to look under the cap to be sure.

Car firing but will not start plugs sooty

You could try the Clear Flood procedure....Throttle wide open and crank engine . This sometimes works, but.....

These engines suffer from fuel wash down. The gasoline washes away the oil in the cylinders.....and compression goes away, not making the fuel fire off.

The film of oil in the cylinders and rings seals the piston to the bore making for good compression.

Remove the spark plugs....crank over the motor to eject raw fuel...dribble a couple of spoonfuls of motor oil down each plug hole and crank briefly.

Install plugs and try restart.

Never wash engine in zr-1,starter is in center of engine, drain hole is usually plugged up,starter has shorted out, will need new starter, clean drain hole out when it is changed

94 nissan maxium vg 30engine wont start number 1 is TDC 20degress btdc on crank fuel and ignition is good

hi, sometimes the engine can get fuel washed. in older vehicles(carburated vehicles that is) this condition used to be known as flooded, but in the newer vehicles(fuel injected) there is a case where fuel is sprayed in and will actually wash the piston rings of oil just enough so compression cannot occur properly. i generally just open the throttle blade full(floor the accelerator) before turning the key on to start engine and crank for a little while. if there is a fuel wash condition, the engine will start to fire a bit then eventually kick over and run, when it does run, you may have to pump the gas pedal to keep running, and eventually, the engine will come back to life. if this happens to be the situation, it is time to change your oil as it will be fuel saturated and it may happen to you again(no start that is.) now, this happens about once a month in my shop where combustion just gets fouled by a mis-start and the rings get washed on a number a vehicles, but you should always check to make sure the camshafts rotate in sync with crank, timing chains on nissans like the one in the maxima are known for stretching and the guides are known for wearing. this would be the next area i would check, if the chain and guides are too worn, the engine likely won't start. good luck with it!

Runs fast on crank up didnt start til I washed off the engine

Washing the engine should have nothing to do with it. If the car is cranking over fast you may have a timing chain about to go.

2001 chevrolet tracker engine cranks but won't start

You have wet ignition components. Get an air hose and blow dry everything you can get to. You may even have to let it sit to dry out.
