It is a difficult one to answer because it is intermittent and probably will not happen during a fault finding test. Intermittent faults in electrics generally are a result of bad earths ,rusted earths , loose battery terminals and cables into the terminals ,battery posts and terminals not shiny clean, loose connections in the harness, loose fuses holders and fuses harness connecters being dirty at the contact points and an electronic unit that has an internal (ECM) fault that occurs when the road is rough, bumps . For your problem I would be checking that all the connections into the ECM are clean and the connections are tight . Battery terminals and loose wires on the alternator. And one that happens sometimes ,heavy keys hanging from the ignition switch will sway back and forth and momentarily disconnect the run circuit. IT has been known to happen . So I think to be fair to the person doing the diagnostic check it would be akin to looking for a needle in a haystack while wearing brown coloured glasses. When it happens try to be aware of the exact circumstances at the time , how long the car was in operation, weather conditions (hot-cold), What you had working at the time (radio, lights , cigarette lighter, wipers what ever). Anything may seem unimportant at the time but may point to what is happening and so help the mechanic /electriciaan

Do you hear any clicking sounds coming from behind the instrument panel ? Electrically controlled actuators move temp . blend doors and they wear out .Plastic gears etc..
Electronic Automatic Temperature Control System
The electronic automatic temperature control (EATC) system operation is determined by the settings on the EATC module. The EATC system automatically maintains a selected temperature for vehicle interior comfort, including capabilities to maintain separate temperature settings for the driver and front passenger. The electronic temperature control capabilities are achieved by splitting the air distribution system internally and utilizing 2 individually operated temperature blend doors. The EATC system is composed of the EATC module, automatic temperature control (ATC) solenoid and manifold, blower motor speed control, 4 vacuum control motors, 2 temperature blend door actuators, in-car temperature sensor, ambient air temperature sensor and solar amplifier (sunload sensor) to control the various functions. Do you know about DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ?

The electronic automatic temperature control (EATC) system must be diagnosed by first retrieving any DTCs, if present.
  • An on-demand (hard fault) DTC indicates that the fault is currently present. An on-demand DTC suggests a wiring fault, disconnected connector or component failure.
  • A continuous (intermittent) DTC alone (corresponding on-demand DTC is not present) indicates that the fault is an intermittent condition and may not be currently present. A continuous only DTC suggests a poor wiring connection, loose pin or terminal or intermittent component failure.
On-demand (hard fault) or continuous (intermittent fault) DTCs can be retrieved using a diagnostic tool. If using a diagnostic tool, refer to the diagnostic tool operating manual.
On-demand DTCs can also be retrieved by carrying out the Electronic Automatic Temperature Control Module On-Demand Self Test. To retrieve and/or clear continuous DTCs carry out the Electronic Automatic Temperature Control Module - Retrieve Continuous DTCs procedure. Always carry out the Electronic Automatic Temperature Control Module On-Demand Self Test before retrieving continuous DTCs.
If no DTCs are present, GO to Symptom Chart for the appropriate diagnostic action.

DTC EATC DTC Displayed Notes Description Action to Take B2266 2266 N/A LH Blend Door Failure or Short Go To Pinpoint Test A . B2267 2267 EATC Only RH Blend Door Failure or Short Go To Pinpoint Test A .
  • The dual temperature control is inoperative/does not operate correctly - Dual Zone EATC
  • Temperature blend door/actuator broken/binding
  • EATC module
  • CHECK the temperature blend doors/actuators for a binding or broken condition. If no condition is found, INSTALL a new EATC module. REFER to Section 412-01 . TEST the system for normal

water in connections ---engine wash down--rain
loose connections --not properly connected
broken wires --excessive engine movement
bad ground connections ---battery ground lead --dirty terminals
failing battery---have a load test done on battery
alternator not charging--- drive belt condition /tension---bad alternator
voltage regulator faulty--- regulators are now found as part of the ECM-- so could be a problem ECM

What's wrong when the engine dies while driving a"?"

Many possible reasons: air and fuel filter blockages, check and replace as necessary. Electrical fault in ignition system, take car for a full electrical and electronics diagnostics check. This problem may be the result of any of various old and failing components. Check specifically the sensor inside the distributor (electronic ignition)! This is known to give "intermittent" fault symptoms.

Engine fault ligh traveling with a slight jitter

Engine failure lights, idle mixture concentrated, resulting in a mixed gas concentration is usually the cause of the fault before the oxygen sensor, fuel injectors clogged or resistor failure, the engine computer failure, etc., in order to repair the fault sensors and injectors majority, use the diagnostic tool to determine the cause and analyze the necessary data and measurement process, as suggested by the service shop technician repairs and testing, they are more professional. Another reminder recently because of the gasoline engine fault light of reason more, but mostly caused by clogged injector coking dilute mixture, throttle naturally by the carbon. Concentrated mixture of small, generally throttle jitter mostly carbon reason, testing is also very easy to just look at the opening of the can. I hope the answer to help you.

Hi Jagman

I suspect this could be your battery at fault.

Get it heavy discharge tested first.

Good Luck.
