How do I disassemble the top in order to fix the unit?

I can't remove the grey valve knob on the top of the unit. It is preventing me from removing the plastic shell. Does it just pop off? I don't want to break it.

well there isn't much on gripping the retainers, what they are, are plastic ball and socket clips. I would lay some tape down underneth the lamp onto the bumper to protect the bumper and then the hard part...while making sure the headlamp is above the bumper, pull with some force on the back half of the light to where it meets with the fender, after a little pulling it should (no promises) should come out, it will seem like it will break but it shouldn't. (I use to work at a body shop and did many of those headlights including my own '06 G6.) Hope that helps.

Yes. Behind the carpeting in the trunk you will see a small plastic clip or "rivet". I think there are two, but you will need a small hammer to knock that out. Be sure to be ready to catch the taillight before you do it. You will also need spare clips to reattach it. I havent bought them from the dealer for mine, and it seems to be secure. No water has entered the housing or the trunk, so I dont believe they are necessary.

mine is doing the same, it's your pcv receptor on the manifold. that hard plastic cover is actually part of the intake itself, if it "came off" it would cut your intake in half. that seem seals the two halfs together. you gotta pull the whole intake off and replace it... or jimmy rig it.

you will have to remove the area around the shift lever inside the car to be able to get to the 4 bolts that hold the gear lever into the top of the box (turret bolts). Undo the bolts and lift the assembly off the top of the box . Stuff rags into the hole to prevent dirt from under the car getting into the top of the box

ENGINE SPEED HUNTING WHEN WARM


Very likely to be the idle control motor. We live in a maritime environment, and invariably after a sitting for a week or more our Terios has idle problems.

1. Remove the air filter assembly
1a. release 5 clips, free the top and element (note white corrosion)
1b. remove 3 10mm bolts
1c. detach 4 hoses and sensors
1d disconnect 2 electrical connectors

2. Remove idle control motor (engine cool)
2a Remove 2 water hoses
2b Remove 1 electrical connector
2c Remove 4 Phillip's head screws

3 Disassemble idle control motor
3a carefully scratch alignment marks for accurate reassembly in the black plastic motor stator
3b Carefully use a hacksaw to cut flat screw driver slots into stator retaining scres
3c Carefully remove the screws
3d Carefully wiggle black stator section off main assembly. exposing the rotor of the control valve (note there is some magnetic attraction)

4 Fixya the valve. (if it doesn;t spin freely this is definitely contributing to high speed or hunting idle
4a valve rotor should spin freely. If it is sticky or stuck gently try to free it. Use penetrating oil, brake cleaning fluid or turps.
4b Manipulate the rotor until it spins freely. It will spin like a top when fully lubricated.

Reassemble in reverse order. Be sure to fill with coolant and bleed the throttle body.

1. Remove two 7mm hex screws on display panel cover (top, underneith)

2. Put on parking brake, engage key (do not start), move PRNDL lever to L to get out of way.

3. Pull the bottom part of display cover straight toward you (there are 2 clips, one on either side of the steering wheel behind the display assembly cover that will snap free - takes a little force - Do one side at a time) Remove and set aside. This reveals the four display unit screws.

4. Remove the four 7mm screws on the actual display panel. (fyi: all screws in this project are the same headsize, threadsize, and length)

4. Tilt top of display panel toward you and remove the three top connectors (they come out easily and are in a cable harness so you can't put them back wrong) You will need to squeeze the middle gently, unlocking connector and pull)

5. Pull out display - which includes "glass" covering - this never gets removed! (adjust steering wheel to lowest position if needed)

6. On the rear of the panel you will see several (little grey) knobs. Find the one right behind the odometer and using a pliers, twist counter clockwise 1/4 turn and remove. The little light bulb is encased in these little knobs and is included as a one-piece replacement for the $1.50 to $4 bucks.

7. Replace bulb assembly by inserting the bulb and turning clockwise 1/4 turn.

8. Assemble following reverse instruction of above.

Radio Volume knob not working on 2009 Pont Vibe. Can it be repaired


I just removed the knob by cutting the top off and using a wire cutter to cut away enough plastic so that I could remove the knob from the front. It is thin plastic on the sides so I got it to collapse enough to pull it out. I just need to order another and cut the flange on the back of the knob so it goes in. Took me about 20 minutes to remove the knob. It tried to remove the radio but that takes a lot of time and in my case I could not remove any of the wiring harnesses.

Why is the slap stick on my suv not working


I have an '04 Outlander and the manual slap stick stopped working. I also noticed the Drive light was not on when in auto drive. This is a common problem with this model and a relatively easy fix. Tools you will need are a small flat head and medium cross head scredriver, solder gun and electronic grade solder, small heat shrink tubing. Remove the entire center console - start at the rear by removing the 4 philips screws in the center arm rest compartment, remove the cover plate underneath the hand brake and the 2 side panels on either side at the front. Remove the shift knob (2 screws behind the small cover plate on the front of the knob - remove with small flat head screwdriver). Remove all remaining screws and the rear section, then slide the center section over the handbrake followed by the front section.

You will see a small switch on the shift lever with 3 wires (Black, Blue and Red). Most likely one or more have become detached, at this point it is best to unsolder any that are still attached because they will likely break in the near future! Remove any old solder and wire from the 3 contacts with the solder gun on the switch and tin each with fresh solder. Strip about 1/8" on each of the 3 wires and tin each with solder. Slide about 1/2-3/4" of the heat shrink tubing onto each wire. Solder the wires back to the swtich in this order:

Black - top
Blue - center
Red - bottom

Start at the top and work down, and after soldering each slide the heat shrink tubing over the solder joint and shrink by applying the solder gun - this will provide better mechanical support and help prevent future breakage.

Reassemble the center console in the reverse order of removal - make sure you have no screws left over!!

2003 Mitsubishi Outlander sportronic trans operates well, but not in manual mode and D is not lit when selected. Any tips? Seems to me the norm for these transmissions.

Why wont my turn signals and wipers work?


The turn signals, wipers, and head lamps are controlled by multi function knobs on the steering column. Due to constant use their internal metal contacts can wear and corrode, preventing proper operation. You may be able to open the knobs and clean the contacts, if this doesn't work the unit must be replaced. Removal of the unit, which consists of the knobs on both sides of the column, requires removal of the steering wheel and should only be done by a trained professional.

How to replace the heater core of a volvos40 with a 2.5 engine

Heater Core - Removal & Installation

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. In the engine compartment:
    1. Remove the top splashguard.
    2. Install two hose clips on the hoses to the heat exchanger. Remove the hoses.
    3. Remove the air conditioning pipe in the engine compartment from the support.
  3. In the passenger compartment:
    1. Disconnect the wiring and the connectors located on the center support.
    2. Remove the mounting bolts from the center support. Remove the support.
    3. Remove the control panel.
    4. Disconnect all the connectors.
    5. Remove the power unit
  4. Cars with air conditioning remove the air conditioning pipe in the engine compartment from the support.
  5. Remove the bolts and the nut from the power unit. Pull the power unit backwards as far as possible
  6. Remove the upper section from the housing.
  7. Remove the section that connects with the floor heater.

  1. Press the pipes down. Remove the lower section.
  2. Remove the four mounting bolts.
  3. Pull off the housing. Press the floor heater down. Remove the housing.
  4. Remove the control lever on the valve side.
  5. Remove the mounting and the clips around it.
  6. Carefully separate the components.
  7. Replace damaged components if necessary.
    NOTE Do not disassemble damper motors when adjusting.
  8. Replace the refrigerant temperature sensor.
  9. Replace the heat exchanger.
  10. Check the seals (also on the dampers).
  11. Install the control mechanism last.
  12. Install in reverse order.
  13. Check the setting of the damper motors.

Mode cable for heater select,broken.Whats the easy...


The easiest way to fix it is to replace the cable. Give your local Chevy dealer a call and have them order the part. The cable is secured to the heater controls with a clip and it secures at the top with a screw. You'll have to remove the top of the dashboard and the instrument panel cover (in that order). Search for hellobruce13 on YouTube. He's got some great videos on how to disassemble the dash. Make sure you fix the root cause that caused your cable to break in the first place. Most likely, it's because the foam on the heater mode door shifted and is not allowing the door to move freely. Once you have the top of the dash removed, remove the vent tubing and you should be able to reach in and trim the foam from the bottom edge of the door.
