SOURCE: suzuki sidekick clutch problem

Check the cable clearance. Too much clearance will cause clutch slippage or total clutch disengagement. Adjust the cable so that the clutch pedal will be hard to press by hand .5 to .75 inch from its initial point.

My car will not drive forward suzuki sidekick nd 1995

hello. Yolanda , welcome.
so is reverse dead too>?
is the car a STICK shift or auto>??
if auto shift transmission, is it 3speed or 4,
the 4 speed look like this.
see the 2 on the shifter (that is 4 speed)

http://www.fixkick.com/tranny/slush/4sp-selections.jpg

if its a 4speed we need to scan it,
if 3 speed, the 3speed box is bad. or levels low,
ever check levels by the book, or lost the book?

I Have a 2007 Suzuki Forenza with a winding in the Transmission the code PO783

get it fixed, are you going to diagnose and repair and A/T?
that car is a 1/2 GM/ Daewoo car. a sad mix of parts. (sell it? i would )
the service book is here. $4
This is called an FSM.
https://suzukipitstopplus.com/Products/1068-2007-forenza-reno-service-manual.aspx

783 (p07xx means tranny issues)

quote FSM:
Trouble Code: P0783 (2.0L L4 VIN - Auto)
3 - 4 Shift Malfunction Print this code dataprint_icon_codes.gif comments in (xxxx)
Trouble Code Conditions: (preconditions before test)
Transaxle oil temperature is greater than -10 °C (14 °F). Selector lever is not N (Neutral), P (Park) position. (warm , in gear)
System voltage is greater than 9 V.(car battery not dead)
No input speed error DTCs P0715, P0716 and P0717.
Speed sensors not dead.
Output speed is greater than 256 rpm. (tail shaft rpm (speed)
Input speed is greater than 400 rpm. (engine rpm after clutch)
3 - 4 gear shift is active. (the TCM commands shifts to 4th)
Possible Causes:
  • Circuit to solenoids bad.
  • ECM, bad.
  • TCM bad or inputs wrong.
  • end quote.
Comments:
this means, in pure physics.:
the transmission slip's
what that test failure means it bar stool talk is this.
I shafted to 4th but the MPH is too slow, so the transmission
is not shifting to 4th , or it slips

any mech would drive the car first. (did he?)
and flog it up hills (in Kansas? omg)
TO SEE, if it slips in 4th or fails to shift at all.

  1. fresh ATF? and filter? serviced and levels good on A/T
  2. is the 4th gear command to the shift solenoid good.?(logic)
  3. if trans slips? (fails FSM book stall tests) bad tranny.
  4. if the trans fails stall , check line pressure per FSM.
like that, and more, lots to say on A/T
If in uSA find a real , shop, with ASE techs. and win.

Transmition wont run after a little while if i let it rest she will run again

there are 3 there transmission ,used, and all are radially different.
3/4 speed A/T
and the 5speed manual.
you said ,run that implays. no operator actions besides shifting to drive so Ill guess its at least and A/T 3 or 4speed are diffr.
sounds too, like it only runs cold and never hot.
that is bad sign. try getting diagnosis at a AAMC shop,
there are 300 parts in that box.
but first check that the level is correct.
doing so takes a special technique,do you have the operators guide.
if yes that technique is in the manual, RTM.
not too low fluid Dextron (max num)
or too high (causes foaming and hard failure)$$$

The light on the auto shift inside my suzuki sidekick is out, at night you cant see where the reverse or any gear is at..how do i fix this

Sounds like the light globe has failed. To replace globe you will have o remove the cover over the shift lever to gain access to the globe socket. Once you have removed globe, replace it with the same type and wattage (usually 3 to 5 W) and then replace cover.

THE PROBLEM IS WHEN THE CAR IS COLD YOU CAN'T GET

try a full flush and filter.
hot ATF fluild flows more easy thru clogged filter.
or bad vac modulator or governor or its tiny filters.

you need a AT expert , if the flush dont work.
there are many on car tests.
