Question about 2001 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

My check engine light was on so I took my 2001 Buick laSabre for a system check ,it turned out to be the MAF Sensor. I put on a new one and I still have the same problem..if not worse. What could the problem be?

Put a new air filter in as well. Be sure to clean any leaves or dirt from air box.
Dont forget to get the codes cleared AFTER the new sensor is installed. Give the car about three days to complete all drive cycles.

I have a Buick lasabre 3800 and on my mass airflow sensor one wire is clean and one lookes burnt . Would that cause my car to act up?

Yes, a dirty or bad mass airflow sensor can cause a car to run badly. I had a 1999 Mazda Protege that had this problem. You can get a can of mass airflow sensor cleaner from an auto parts store. Be careful to hold the can a few inches away from the wires so as not to break anything. Mass Airflow Sensors are fragile. Let it dry before putting it back in the car. If your car has the check engine light on, they can check the code for your as well. You could go to Autozone, Advanced Auto Parts, Oreilly's, etc. CRC Mass Air Flow MAF Sensor Cleaner Instructional Video

I would assume you never retrieved the codes
& googled them-- to find out the system with the
possible fault
We have had Check Lights for over 30 years,
nothing new there, just remember you have an
OBD1 System (1981 thru 1995) OBD2 (1996 thru 2014)
Put the codes you get into Google along with your vehicle

Disconnect the maf and see if it starts, if not the MAF is not the problem.

Have you had a diagnostic scan ran? It sounds like you may be having a problem with the MAF sensor. The MAF regulates the amount of air taken into the car. The sensor responds to the engine temperature.
