Engine light came on and i had it read at autozone, transaxel module is what it said so i took the code with me to a shop. They said they had to use there code reader and charged me $100. Then said that i needed a torc converter and it will cost me $1600.(which by the way also was the same place that had changed my oil 2 days before engine light came on) I took it to another shop down the road and they said they would fix my car for me for $500 and said it was a valve or something like that but anyways i paid to get the problem fixed and the check engine light came back on and car sputters and runs crapy. I bought the car a year ago with only 45,000 miles on it. I've already paid all these shops who claim know how to work on cars but don't fix the problem. I'm not rich and can't take it to a dealership and fed up with being ripped off and lied to. Does anyone know what a transaxel module is? Well i don't but been told many different things and paid for the car to be fixed. I thought that's what a code reader is for, to tell you the problem. What do you do? Or am i just F*****?
Trans axle module controls slip between wheels.
Finding a good shop is one of the hardest parts of owning a car.
Hint if the mechanic refers to his computer as a "code reader" be suspisious.
A code reader is exactly that -- it just reads codes
A scanner can run system tests, read codes, and comunicate with cars PCM. A code reader is CHEAP my scanner was $1200 and that was a steal.
Never hesitate to get other estimates. Many shops will waive the scanning charge if you get the work done there.
