Its sorta hard but it can be done me and my brother did it the water pump is on the bottom of the pulleys the tentioner pulley is the very back one next to the power steering if your car has power steering
their are 2 3 or 4 bolts on the pulley i think its just 3 there are 4 or 5 bolts on the pump and you slide it on out and put the new gasket on it and then put the new one on. its hard its take some time but it can be done

Need to replace waterpump

Your Malibu is equipped with probably the EASIEST water pump in the word to change.

Drain the cooling system.
Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
Remove the drive belt.
Remove the water pump pulley bolts and pulley.
Remove the water pump bolts, pump and gasket.
Clean the water pump mating surfaces.
Install the water pump and reassemble in reverse order

Hint: The O-ring that seals the water pump is much easier to install if you use a little dielectric grease to "stick" it to the water pump before installing. This O-ring needs to expand and contract and move freely in the water pump groove due to extreme changes in engine temperature. The dielectric grease will actually help accomplish this. DO NOT use RTV silicone to "glue" the O-ring.

I wanna know how to change waterpump

Remove drive belt. Remove all coolant, remove hoses to water pump, Remove all screws from water pump, remove gasket from hard surface, use permatex gasket sealer on both sides of waterpump gasket and apply to engine side, then waterpump, hold water pump in place until all water pump nuts screws are installed, use torque wrench, no more the 10 ft lbs. The rest is the reverse of uninstallation.

How to change a water pump

First drain the coolant if possible (you will find a drain **** on the bottom drivers side of rad). Loosen the water pump pulley bolts while serpentine belt still attached (10mm X 4). Remove the serpentine belt, and plastic diagram bracket just above the waterpump. Remove the (8mm bolts X 5) holding the water pump to front engine housing. Note the little arrow or triangle at the top of waterpump when removing, it will help you to install new water pump in same location. Scrape off most of the old gasket material, use fine sand paper to clean engine surface as best as possible. Install new gasket to water pump, and align the holes (it only goes on one way, and maybe upside down if they don't line up). Locate arrow and reinstall, torque 5 bolts to 89 in/lbs tight but not too tight. Reinstall pulley, serpentine belt and bracket. Tighten the pulley bolts, refill coolant (close drain ****). Just above the waterpump there is a coolant hose with a little 7mm screw for a bleeder. Open the bleeder (engine off). Continue to fill rad with coolant until it comes out bleeder. Close bleeder and test run. Recheck the coolant level later when cooled.

This is called a weep hole and it indicates the rubber seal is now leaking antifreeze onto the waterpump bearing and it's only a matter of time before the waterpump falls change the waterpump.

Water pump

Is it a 99 or an 03? Either way fairly simple. You will need to remove the splash shield on the passenger side wheel well. Removing tire is optional. If it is a 99, the pump should be located near the radiator. Loosen the bolts that hold the pulley on the pump before removing the belt. This will save you time later. Remove the belt, then remove the pulley. Take all the bolts out of the waterpump. Install in reverse order. If it is an 03, it is near the firewall side of the motor. Remove shield, loosen pulley bolts. The pulley will not come off until you get the water pump out, but you need to remove the bolts for it any way. Take the bolts out of the waterpump. You will need a pry bar to get the pump/pulley out. You can pry on the tensioner against the fenderwell and wiggle it out. Install in reverse order.

Water pump instillation

Remove the Fan Shroud. You have to do this with Both the Old and New Waterpump out. The fan has 4 Nuts that hold it on to the Pulley. Remove these and Remove the Fan and the Pulley. You will need the Studs off of the Old Waterpump and they are Threaded into the Small Circle that is on the Front of the Waterpump Under the Pulley. There is no Easy way to get these off. It is Tough. Then when you are done Fighting with these, Install the Studs on the New Waterpump and Install the Pump. You can do this either with or Without the Fan already put back on.
