This is an old car so corrosion, wear and tear etc will have likely contributed to this fault. My guess is that somewhere in the wiring harness is a short that only occurs on startup. ie The heavy starter cable is rubbed through, the wire to the starter solenoid is pinched on the chassis or there is something fundamentally wrong in the start circuit. If this only happens on start then get a good DIYer or local auto electrician to have a good look at the wiring. Ground connections etc. If you continue to try this by fitting fuses there is a likelyhood of setting the car alight.

Would using a 80 amp fuse instead of a 60 amp fuse in a 1993 Geo Metro cause problems with the starter?

It shouldn't be. The starter is going to pull as many amps as it needs. The fuse is to protect the wiring and keep the car from catching fire in case the starter fails and tried to pull more current than it should. That being said you need to change it back. 80 amps is 33% more current than what that circuit is designed to carry. Being that it's a 1993 you should probably be on your 3rd starter by now

I have a 2001 Chrysler Sebring and the fuel and starter fuse continues to blow after replacing it with a new fuse when i try and start the car.

Just asking, isn't the starter fuse a 60-80 Amps one? In that case you might have quite an electrical shortcut. Check for any exposed wire or loose connections around the starter. If it is a less beefy (10-20 amp) fuse it might be the Starter solenoid fuse, in that case maybe it is on it's way out. I still don't understand why the fuel pump fuse will blow though. In any doubt you could also take your car to the dealer.

Cheers

1990 Honda 60 amp fuse blows immediately

did you follow both fuse wires,
there are up to 3 fuses there.
one is alternator. if the fuse goes to the big alternator wire
the alternator is shorted inside, (diode pack blown)
that is how i do it.

Fuse 18 keeps blowing

Once a fuse blows,it does so for a reason
Common Sense
In a 60 year driving career you have maybe 6 fuses blow
Replacing them 5 out of 6 time they blow again
Ask yourself why
You need to find the most logical item in that circuit
& start testing & that usually requires a wiring diagram
or you have no map or now where to start any testing.
Something overloaded a circuit find it & replace it or
resolve the wiring issue

I cant find the fuse fog light on fx35 2004

The odds are that the lamp burnt out

You do realize that you will only have about
4 fuses blow in 60 years of driving

If a fuse ever blow out there is a reason,
& replacing it won't fix a thing

Have to crawl under the front of car & reach up & remove the lamp holder

Citroen c5 55 plate blowing 40 amp maxi fuse on the suspension

Since you have tried several fuses even stronger which you shouldn't and still blowing them, surely you have a serious suspension problem and I believe visit a qualified Citroen Garage for further inspection and repair if is required.

HR-V honda electric window on passenger side just stop working. all fuses OK

You will only have about 6 fuses ,ever blow, for any problem,
in your entire lifetime, of maybe 60 years of driving

Check them ,yes,blow out ,seldom

The door window switches get used alot, start there

If they are okey, then you remove the inner door panel
& check the window regulator ,then the motor is necessary

My taurus keeps blowing meaga fuse even after changing alternater and alternater wire what could be the problem

It really sounds like a major short in the wire going into the mega fuse box. I would just start tracing the positive wires ,I would start at the starter and work my way to the alternator, battery ,and fuse box. It takes a lot of current to blow one of those 60 amp fuses so I would expect to be one of the thicker wires causing the short and you will probably see arc marks where the wire touched the frame causing the short. Well I hope this can help you out.
