Question about Pontiac Montana

HELP, with my montana rear air

In my van I just noticed that when I put on my rear air the cold air is coming out of the drivers side floor vent, the ceiling vents are only blowing very tiny air out of them. I can not for the life of me figure out how this has switched over or if something is wrong. The fuses are good and I have tried everything I know to try and fix it, any help would be very appreciated as we are approaching summer in Florida. Is there a switch anywhere in the van that I need to switch over from floor vent to ceiling vent for the rear air?

yes these mode door motors are hard to get at but if you remove the drivers seat and lay on your back with a good small flashlight you can see this motor above the gas pedal it takes a flexible screw turner I think the screw heads are 5.5mm or 1/4 and the motors are slotted to go on and be indexed in the normal off position. Suggest do during the coolest part of the day and has a small fan to circulate air for the later part of the day or reassembly the following morning good luck.

Sorry Roxanne I found another fix to your problem because i just fixed one by the gas pedal near the firewall and center hump is a white panel door remove it there are 2 hepa filters in there that may be plugged. they come out kinda hard be careful not to break off the removal tabs if so then a 90 degree pick is required to remove them.

I think I know what you are talking about, I just went out there but could not see it, but I took a picture and I believe I see what you are talking about, I see a white panel just above the pedal that looks to screw in, the picture is herehttps://plus.google.com/photos?pid=60108... and the white panel is in the upper left hand corner. Thank you so much for all the help you are giving me I really do appreciate it.

That is correct, the air blend door actuator. "flapper valve" may need to be replaced or cleaned and free from binding up. Good luck and hope this helps. If there is an Auto Zone in your area, they can order the part you need and give you the step by step instructions to removing the old actuator and replacing it if it's damaged. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help.

You may have an issue with the mixing door found under the dashboard. It may be stuck or the actuator that moves it may be faulty. Check also the linkages if they are OK.

It blows out hot air even when the air in the front is cold

Hard to read your question, do you mean it blows cold air out of the front vents and hot air out of the rear passenger vents?

If the air coming out of the front is just cool and not cold, and the rear vents are warm, you have low freon and need to have it serviced.

No air flow through 4 top rear vents

Don't worry, it's designed that way. The owner's manual is pretty unclear about this. But the heated air only comes out the floor vents underneath the front seats and the "heat vents" at the forward and side of the rear A/C compartment near the floor. The cooled or vent air flows from the overhead vents.
