2001 Jeep Cherokee - A/C stopped blowing cold air

My 2001 Jepp Cherokee a/c went out last year. I am assuming it has a leak beacuse it blows air, it starts off a little cool, but then reverts to warm. I put freon in but it only last a day or two. Does anyone know how much it will cost to fix it or what needs fixed?

Do you know of anywhere that will check what's wrong for free or a low cost. One company wants $150 just to look at it.

The cost depends on what is leaking, if it is the compressor you are looking at about $1000

My 2001 jeep cherokee sport loses heat when ever I am idling. hot air blows when I am driving but if I stop at a light or idle in my gargage it blow freezing cold air. What can be wrong and what needs to...

the doors for this vehicle are vacuum powered. you likely have a hose leaking allowing the door to creep open at low vacuum(idle) short term fix would be to run a hose directly to a vacuum souce to the actuatior on the top of the heater box.(get at it normally through the glove box)

2001 jeep grand cherokee wont blow air through vents

there is a flap to redirect the air flow under the dash, it may be an item like a pen :) that has dropped down the vent opening stopping it from moving to redirect the air ... failing that, one of the motors/cables that operate the flap has failed

The ac only blows warm air, have recharged it with freon but it only cools minutes before blowing warm again, could find no leaks

There are special cans of R-134A with dye in them for detecting leaks. Most leaks occur around the fittings near the compressor. Recharge the system with the leak detector can or R-134A. There are also cans of R-134A with an additive to stop leaks. I would use these products to either detect your leak or to stop it. Best of luck.
