Your factory tach won't be accurate because a 350 is an 8 cylinder engine. I put a 350 into a Vega, and my speedo was slightly off because of the differences between the ratios as well. I recommend looking for an aftermarket adapter, or a kit if you can't get the cable to connect into the tranny.

SOURCE: Jeep wrangler Fuse box

i had the same problem. i drive a 95 so im not sure if it differs from were the fuse box is. look righ above you pedals to your far left. it should be right there. also if you instruments went out it will be a 15 fuse. its a blue fuse. next my panel went out cuz of the wires on my transmission. if yor looking at your jeep at the front. the wires will be on your left. make sure they are not burned or anything. it will be right on the side of your tranny. mind got burned by the exaust so they were shorting. check that is and see if that is what is it. for a temp fix just put some electrical tap around the wires and you should be set for a wile. good luck

SOURCE: Jeep wrangler Fuse box

You have two locations for the fuse box. One is either under the hood or behind the glove box. I would pull apart the glove box and take a look.

Standard transmission?
If so the clutch may be broken/damaged or far out of adjustment.
Can you select the gears with the engine off?
If so then take a real good look at the clutch.

Jeep speedometer cable

Try checking speedometer cable by unhooking both ends and spin it by fingers, if cable is good both ends will spin, and guage could be bad or where it attacheas to transmission that part could be bad to.

The vehicle speed sensor is located in the transfer case housing. To get your speedometer working you will have to connect the wires back to the speed sensor.

Just got a 1998 Jeep Wrangler and the speedometer is not correct. How can I adjust it to the correct speed?

If it is a fault of the speedometer it will have to be either replaced or repaired at a shop that repairs them.If it is because of a different size tires then what came on from factory the computer will have to be reprogrammed.

Coverting a 2.5 to a 350

Technically, it's possible to put anything on anything if you can get or make an adapter I believe you would be far better off using a gm trans and bellhousing.By doing so, all you will need to do aside from a custom exhaust system is to re-locate the rear crossmember and have a driveshaft made up. You may need to create a different hydraulic slave mount and change the shifter location but it's far less expensive than what the adapters will cost you. Do a lot of measuring first before buying anything.
You can find out whech transmission you have by either finding the ID tag on it or giving the vin# to any dealer and they can tell you.

Speedometer does not work 1991 GMC Sierra 2500

the turbo 350 doesn't have a output speed sensor like the trans that came with the truck orginaly. You will have to use a cable to drive a pluse generator,or switch the tail shaft housing with a 700r4e housing of the same length, and use the speed sender from the 700r4e or early 4l60e. note the tail shaft is the same splines but the 350 shaft detent hole my not line up with the relucture ring. therfor the output shaft needs to be change to, or have a relucter ring made.

Speedometer stopped working

most likely a broken cable if you slip under the jeep and find where the cable screws into the transmission you can unscrew it and spin it with your finger the speedo should move up if not the cable is broken, replacement can be had at your local dealer
