I have a 2000. First check the bulb. Remove the entire assembly. Replace the bulb.

However, I had trouble with back lights and tried everything .including a new directional switch... I finally fixed both rear lights.
Chrysler in their infinite wisdom used one flasher assembly to control everything. Its to the left of the steering column, way up under the wiper area. I tried to replace it myself but getting to it is a b---h. I finally resigned myself to having Chrysler do it.

Good luck.

THIS REALLY WORKS****** Saved atleast $600 easy
Ok so when you open your driver door there is a black boot that goes from the body of Jeep to the door (inside the Jam when you open door-its visable) Take this loose...inside there is a wire bundle...there was a black and orange wire in there that were both broken....All we did was strip these and reconnect them w/ connector....Voila..windows all roll up and down..interior lights come on and the locks work and the power mirrors....I AM SO HAPPY THAT THIS WORKED SAVED ME SO MUCH $$$$

SOURCE: 2001 jeep heater on passenger side not working

there should be a small valve attached to a hose coming from the engine into the firewall this valve directs the hot engine coolant into the heater radiator in the heater box it probably is closed open it and, you should have heat then: it should be easy to find the reason it was closed

The break light on on the right side of a 2001 jeep grand Cherokee will not work when the lights are turned on but works with the lights off but dimer than the left at all times what do i do

I have the answer and its a common problem you have a bad ground. You now have to find out where so you will need a test light and the best one is a power probe. that one will let you see a ground and a power. it can also be the socket having a broken wire.
So I don't know how you are going to do it but you have to test your grounds on that side and you will find a bad wire or a bad socket.
Good luck with this one you will feel great when you find the problem I always do ....

I have a 2003 jeep grand cherokee laredo, I have a right side brake light out. Its not the bulb, any suggestions??????

Check for power at the socket first. If no power is present, check the wiring underneath the carpet in the rear of vechicle. Check for corrosion or broken or shorted wires. This has been the most common spot for issues to arise.

I have a 2001 jeep grand cherokee and the only brake light that works is the rear top light. i have changed both bulbs and fuse seems to be ok.

Hi,
Is that the top rear light on both the left and right rear side or just one side?. If so what is your question? On every car I have ever owned, there was only one light for the brake light on each side.. On some older cars, dual filament bulbs served as both a tail and brake light, and in some cases also the turn signal. Today most cars will have a separate bulb on each side of the car for each function. If you only have a light working on one side, obviously check the other side, both the bulb and the socket. The bulb can be tested with a continuity meter and the socket with a 12DV tester or a dc meter. You will need to have some one hold down the brake pedal when you test the socket. Also, some autos will not have power to the brake light system unless the key is in the run position. Hope I have given you some insight :))

Best regards,
pj

first check for power and ground at the back up light sockets in case its two bad bulbs yes it does happen.if you have no power check for power at the neutral safety switch on the side of the transmission drivers side, wire color should be as you see at the back.if no power than its the neutral switch, and if you have power trace it to rear to find the break.
