Actually we do have a remote starter on the car it was installed 6 years ago and has worked fine since I believe the starting issue has to do with the anti theft system it happens when the doors do not unlock with the remote and you open door with the key then the car will not start, once if you try to start with the key you need to wait 10-20 minutes then car will start! Car is due for new battery anyway will put one in, getting new remote battery today. has not been working, also the dealer who installed the remote start said they have an issue with this vintage chevy's with the "passkey" or something security system where theresisters in the ignition switch stop working at around 140K miles so I ordered a new ignition switch to have put in!

As far as the lights issue there is a service bulitine for the voltage regulator for the alternator they sell a kit for $40 with a new regulator that bolts on to the alternator! The communications issue is probably related to the security system issu as this code was just thrown last week once I get this all done Ill reset codes and see what happens

If any aftermarket devices were installed and used these wires for power or ground can cause these issue.these wires are the main communication center for the whole car very hard to repair without specialty tools Dealer repair.

Yes there is a electrical comb and it spreads the communications to all the modules with a circuit hi and lo signals So if the seat module has failed hi it could affect your radio. and vice versa (example given) yes resetting the system is a start to see if these codes return any electrical issue can trigger "U" series codes

Problem of starting is solved took it to a great local shop, He found a ground on the transmission housing that was corroded so that the electronics where not getting good voltage althout the ground in the trans housing was good this was a seperate ground! He also said the ABS issue is an electrical ground issue, I will bring it back to him next week to track it down car runs fine and brakes are working normally!

Great that's a start now your abs issue. Abs is a supplemental system to normal brakes. So when the light is on you have normal braking without skid control a longer stopping distances but still safe to drive.

If the security light is flashing, it is DEFINITELY a security system issue. Intermittent ignition switch failures are common.

First, make sure you are using the correct key for the vehicle. Use a FACTORY key, NOT a copy made at the hardware store. Turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position (do not try to start the vehicle yet). If the security light is not flashing, go ahead and try to start the engine. If it does not start, release the key to the RUN position and observe the security light. If it is flashing, wait about 10 minutes until it stops flashing then without turning the key off, turn the key to the start position again. If you are using the correct key it should start. If it does not, your car will have to be towed in for service.

Sometimes i can not start

GM vehicles are notorious for having anti theft security problems. When not functioning properly the anti theft can turn off your starter, and/or fuel injectors. This causes the car to have intermittent starting issues. Good one day, not the next. Check out this link for info. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

My theft light is flashing but my 1997 expedition wont start. The vehicle turns over but just don't start.

ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM Passive anti-theft system
Your ignition key has a unique imbedded transponder which engages engine electronics and allows the vehicle to be started. Without the use of your special ignition key, the vehicle will not start.

During each vehicle start, the coded key is read by the anti-theft system. If the key’s ID code matches the code in the anti-theft system, the vehicle is enabled to start.

Anti-theft system
Briefly illuminates when the ignition is turned to the ON position to verify that the passive anti-theft system is operating properly.

Also, its possisble that tou have actovated the fuel pump switch.

CHeck it.

the anti theft does not shut the fuel off, it disables the starter motor, so the problem u have is a failing fuel pump, this most often happens on trucks lke yours at around 100,000 miles.

The ignition lock cylinder is your issue the chip has an intermittent open when you reprogram it, it temporarily fixes it.
