Try giving the hood a quick tap with your fist, in the centre over the hood release, if it works lube up the latch, or have the hood profesionally adjusted.

How do I get the hood open if the hood release cable is broken?

OK this is a find how do you do!!!
  • First approach go to a used car dealer with heavy wire that can be bent to fit up under the hood.
  • Find similar model to your 1998 and open hood.
  • Need pliers. Bend the wire in such a way that it will not interfere with the hood when it is closed but catch the release lever that the cable is attached to.
  • Test it a few times and thank the sales guy or friend that let you make the tool on the model car.
  • Take the tool home and use tool. Temporarily attach cord/wire to under hood latch allowing the end to come out the front with a loop. That will be your temp latch release.

How do I open my hood on a 2000 dodge ram 1500 the latch cable is broken and don't work or the cable do e work when pullen on it

Find another vehicle like yours, and ask hat person to open the hood, and then see where the hood cable is routed so you can see where to try to "grab" it on yours to try to pull it. You may have to break something to make that happen.
Remember, pieces of metal can be bent back where they should be, and pieces of plastic can sometimes be glued back together.
God bless your efforts.

Hood won't open

Is the cord to release the hood broken? If you have been in an accident recently, the hood secure hook might not work properly. Try to lift your hood up, if it lifts even slightly, try to squeeze your hand in between the grille and hood and release the hook securing the hood.
Same thing happened to my car, the hood release inside the car will not operate, and the hood will not latch properly, but this works for me.

Loose hood cord 95' civic, first I had to push the little latch that makes the hood shut completely with a screw driver now it won't even open (the hood) I pulled on the cable with pliers but no...

Just perform some checks please,
  • try to pull the hood release lever with its cable tightly pulled towards you.
  • that may tighten the loose cable so a release can happen
  • then pull out the hood piece hard, so the lock would release.
  • trimming is not a good idea, because it would be hard to set it back into the assembly.
  • try this, good luck. vote it!!

Hood release cord is broken. How do I manually open hood?

usually you can remove the grill to access the latches for the hood without opening the hood. In some cases you can reach up by lying under the nose of the car and you can trip the latch too-worst case, a body shop should be able to do it in a few minutes, usually for less than $25.

My hood will not open on my 1993 Jeep Cherokee, when I pull my hood release it doesn't pull on anything. How can I get my hood open? I need to get an oil change asap.

oddly enough had this same problem with my car a few years ago. there are a few ways to try it. first pull the hood release and then smack the hood close to the cab (somewhere close to the center) that can release the hood clamp and it may pop up. or you can pull and hold the hood release lever and have a friend smack the top of your hood (while standing in front of the jeep) if these dont work you have to either go under the jeep or through the grille and maually pull the cord that is in the hood latch to open it. then replace the cord. however if the smack technique works just leave the hood open and find the rubber hood stems (theyre the little rubber tipped screw looking things in the front corners of your engine compartment that connects with the hood) and screw them a little to where they raise a couple mm. when screwed up a little they should give the hood enough pressure to pop open when you pull the release lever. long enough for you to tighten the wire connected to the hood release or replace it all together

I have a 1990 190e , I cannot get the hood to release. I have pulled the cord but it does not pop up to pull the tab and open the hood, it seems like it is stuck or jammed.. any suggestions as to how to...

If you cannot get the hood to release, find where the wire is and pull with a vice grip. If this does not work, then cut the latch off using a sawzall between the hood and the bumper, if that makes sense.

Then, all you have to replace is the latch and cable once it is opened, and nobody would be any wiser.

Good luck on this repair.

you are going to have to fiddle to get a hand inside the grill to release the latch.  This may require a mechanic.

Cant open ford Taurus hood 2003 pull cord doesn't work.

Sometimes it appears nothing happens but after pulling the hood get out and try reaching under the hood for the latch. However if nothing at all happened you need someone to press down lightly on the hood as you pull the cord.
