Bad Wobble at speeds over 40 or hitting small bumps in road

Bought Jeep used and had no problems with it un till recently. Just out of blue it started a very bad wobble when I hit any bumps or pot holes. Took to shop and found a bad left rear tie showing core. Replaced both rear tired and still had same results. I changed bushing on sway bars with no change.

Most of the time, it's the trac bar bushing. if it's worn, you can death wobble over 40 mph. replace it with a polyurethane bushing.

most likely it's your trac bar bushing. if it's worn, it will cause DW at speeds greater than 40mph. replace with a polyurethane version.

I had the same proble, and it is apparently very common in Jeeps. It even has its own clever little name "The Death Wobble". I solved my problem by having new U joints installed all the way around, but some other causes I've heard are sway bars, and bushings.

I have a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. There is a "violent" vibration that occurs only when you are going 40-60 MPH and you hit a bump or pot hole on the highway. The front end begins to...

Vibration from about 40-60 mph is usually attributed to wheel balancing, but the onset when you hit a bump seems to indicate play in the steering linkages (tie rods etc) or suspension members and stabiliser bar rubbers but you had that all checked out, that brings us back to the wheel balancing.

My 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee loses power and stalls when going up a steep hill on the freeway. It also several times the steering wheel has violently shaken when I hit a bump in the road. It almost felt...

You have two unrelated problems. the power loss can be from a variety of things. What you first need to do with that is have a scan done (many parts stores do that free)...then if you have codes stored, you at least have some direction to go in with that.
The shaking is called death wobble and also has many causes. The most common are bad ball joints or tires that are worn sufficiently so as to not have enough foreward momentum to not react to side loading from bumps. The same tire can still generally pass inspection but is no longer useful on your vehicle (usually with around two thirty seconds of remaining tread measured at the wear bars). Any wear in any of the front end steering components or bushings can also cause wobble...sometimes it is a cumulative effect of slight wear in several places totaling an unacceptable amount of overall play. If you just had brake work or new tires installed, sometimes improper torquing of the wheels can also cause that. If you don't see anything obvious have an experienced jeep tech look at it. It can be dangerous and is nothing to ignore or wait on.

Uncontrollable shimmy in frontend

Haha the death wobble replace the steering dampner or shock on the lower tortion bar of the suspension with an heavy duty upgraded one. Not a difficult repair check the tortion bar bushing for play. But the death wobble is caused by the steering shock. Seen it a lot fixes it every time. Hope the info helps rate it please.

Front end shacking when I run over small bump in road.

If it is still under warranty take it to the dealer. You could have at a minimum have thrown the weights off the tires. But anything like tie rod ends or belts in the tires could be bad.

Very bad shaking after hitting a bump

this is known as death wobble because it feels like you are going to die but slowing down will end it.

The cause for death wobble are:
  1. Worn or loose tie rod ends on your steering linkage.
  2. Worn or loose trackbar bushings or tie rod ends on the trackbar itself.
  3. front end needs alignment.
  4. and many others but the common reasons are listed above.
try to realign the front end. If it doesnt help, then you do indeed have worn steering / suspension components.
