On a suitable hoist remove in this order, wheel, brake line bracket and abs sensor wire, upper sway bar link, lower strut bolts, under hood 3 upper mount nuts, should then be able to remove strut, be careful not to pull axle out to far,"appropriate" spring compressor to relieve tension on spring then upper shock center nut, install new strut now reverse everything to install(properly torque everything removed) . Be careful compressing the spring as if "not done right" could come flying off & you could be severely injured.

Ford focus front strut replacement

basically remove the wheel ( after placing the vehicle on jack stands). remove the bottom ball joint connection ( bolts or ball joint with a ball joint splitter) use 2 spring compressors and close up the spring mark one bolt in the engine bay at the top of the strut so you know where the unit goes on reassembly The bolts control the wheel alignment)undo the bolts and drop the unit out the bottom. undo the nut at the top and release the spring clamps. Lift the spring and top plate of the shaft. Undo the insert nut and remove out of the tube. Insert new insert and reverse the procedure. A workshop manual ( genuine or after market will have the procedure in full with photos)

Location of rear motor mount

Need to know what vehicle? Most rear mounts are located on top of rear strut, if it is a front wheel drive. The rear strut would have to be removed for replacement. Most of newer mounts require specialty tools and can be dangerous if you do not know proper procedure for changing them.

I need help replacing a right upper control arm on my 98 civic si

jack up vehicle ,remove tire/wheel,separate upper ball joint from steering spindle. next open hood, look at the right front strut mount. there is a nut on each side of the strut mount, these nuts hold the upper control arm to the vehicle. remove the nuts and pull the control arm out. install in reverse procedure. NOTE: need to have alignment checked after replacement.

Rear springs replacement

You will need a spring compressor first of all. You have to remove strut, compress sring to get cartridge and spring apart and then replace new spring on strut and replace into vehicle. This is a nasty job without a hoist

How do you change the rear struts in my 95 Olds Cutlass supreme? Is this something I could do myself or would I be better off taking it to a mechanaic?

Many of the 95 Cutlass Supremes have a transverse leaf spring suspension on the rear and there are no coil springs. I believe it depends on whether it is a 2 door or 4 door model. It is much easier to do the struts on the transverse leaf spring type. Support the knuckle with a jack or jack stand. Unbolt the upper mounting bracket by removing 2 bolts from inside the wheel well. Then remove the 2 bolts holding the bottom of the strut to the knuckle. Now you can remove the upper mounting bracket from the strut and place it on the new strut. Reinstall by reversing the procedure.

You can also leave the upper mounting bracket on the car and just unbolt the strut, but this can be more difficult. Support the knuckle with a jack or jack stand. Use a torx socket to keep the strut shaft from spinning and remove the upper mounting nut. Now remove the 2 bolts holding the bottom of the strut to the knuckle. Reinstall by reversing the procedure.
