My trunk popped open out of the blue and now it wont close

No matter how I try, how hard it is slammed it will not close. I had to tie it shut just to be able to drive to work today. How do I fix this? Im hoping its not a costly issue!

Spray some lubricant over the locking mechanism and see if it closes because it might have seized up.

Trunk light will not turn off

Trunk lights usually turn off through the latch which is located in the trunk lid. It would be located to the inside of the trunk under the license plate. There should be some wires going to the mechanism. You can open the trunk and use a screwdriver to activate the latch and simulate what happens when the trunk is shut. Move the latch back and forth a little and see what happens. There may be a bad connection or faulty latch mechanism.

Trunk ajar light on in message center

Look for a contact switch in the trunk. Sometimes, when the trunk (or door for that matter) gets slammed, then button gets set deeper.
What's happening is door and trunk switches are "self adjusting", and a slam "Self adjusts" too far. It is hard to reset the switch without killing it. Just get another one if you find this to be your situation. Test the switch before you buy a replacment.

does the key turn the trunk lock?if not theres one issue right there.the other may be that the valet lever on trunk latch assy. may have inadvertantly been engaged if deck lid was slammed closed.the release solenoid will make noise when activated by fob or lever in car but because of valet being engaged cannot release latch.does key unlock glovebox?if not this may also be a valet key cut.contact nissan dealer to cut regular key.ive seen the slamming the deck lid scenario a million times as the valet lever takes hardly any effort to engage.good luck and let me know how you make out.

Pontiac sunfire 2005, bar from the trunk fell off

they are usually a combination of bars one over the other and sort of spring loaded and locked by clamps you may have to go to what we in Canada call an auto wreckers and see if you can buy the whole assembly and replace it., all the bars if locked in place properly will open the trunk and hold it open until you press or push it closed

Trunk won't shut

it sounds like the spring in the latch is broken or frozen try some WD-40 and spray it in the latch and the lock then if that does not fix it you may have to replace the latch
