Question about 2007 Kia Sorento LX 4x4
I am having the same problem with the car being in 4-wheel drive low on start-up. I have had it to my local Kia dealer 3 times and all they have done is "reset the system." This has done nothing for the problem. I have just had to resort to driving with it on and it will eventually go off. I can tell that the car is in 4x4 but it does not show any signs that it is in "low." The engine is not roaring as I reach 40 or 50 mph. This is usually when the indicator will go off and I can feel a clunk (assumption: going back to 2-wheel drive).
Can anyone help?!?

SOURCE: remove factory radio
This is one that you can stare at all day. the trim pieces that include the air vents (usually woodgrain) will come off and expose the screws that hold the radio in. They are held in by spring clips, a gentle pry will get you started. Here is a website that shows how to remove one for a cell phone mount: http://www.bracketron.com/main/xmain_landing_page.php You may have to take the climate controll screws out to get the radio out far enough to reach the plugs on the back. You should be able to figure out the rest. good luck, and be gentle.. the trim is getting cheaper and cheaper, and is really easy to break.

SOURCE: 2000 kia sportage ex, 4 cyl.
Many of the Kia sportages have a problem with the coils.
There are 2 coils for each 2 cyl and they are located under the middle platic cap on the valve cover.
These coils will set a check engine light that blinks when misfiring and stays on steady when the motor is running smooth. Autozone or Advance auto have a scanner that can check all engine functions and will show a problem with # 2 and 4 cyl.
The coil packs are $39.00 to replace but check the codes first

SOURCE: KIA Sorento 4WD not enguaging
Always make sure that whenever you engage into and out of 4x4, your gear lever is on N and not P.
so to reset it in now, switch on your engine with the hand brake up. set the gear lever to N, turn the knob to 4x4 Hi... wait 10 secs....switch it back to 2Hi...wait 10 secs and then return the gear lever to P and it should be ok.

Be careful there.. If you remove the Throttle Position Sensor TPS or the throttle Cable, the engine light will come on because there is a certain setting that needs to be done to ensure accurate emission control.

Your A/C compressor clutch probably is shot, and the A/C system is not pressurizing and pumping refrigerant through the system. Take it to a shop.
