96 Buick Park Avenue, heater wont blow hot air. How can I tell if it might be the thermostat or the heater core?

Start the car and let it warm up. After it is warmed up open the hood. Look for your top radiator hose, and see if you can squeeze the hose, if the hose is hard to squeeze, the thermastat is stuck shut. If your heater core was out, it would be leaking badly.

When I turn on heat, hot air from driver's side, but passenger's side blows cold. Is this something I can repair myself?

Normally it is a rusty control valve,

normaly the warm water from the engine heats a radiator inside the car the interior fan then blows air theough this heater radiator making your air inside the car warm.

now in this case you have two radiators and two valves, depending on where you want the heat left or right the appropriate valve will open.

normaly you can follow the water pipes to just before they go into the car there are to grey cylinder looking things with a plug.

You can try taking the valve out, opening it up clean it thouroghly and re assemble.

Heater does not heat. The inlet and out let of the heater hoses are very warm. The radiator is full.1994 Buick Park Avenue

You have a problem with the ducting. Probably a vacuum leak, could be just a sticky flap also.

92 buick park avenue won't blow hot air - temp control seems to be working

Make sure there are no leaks and that the system is full to capacity. After the vehicle has warmed up check radiator hoses for temperature differecial also check heater core hoses. A significant difference in temperature may indicate a plugged heater core or thermostat failure

Heater fan won't shut off

It's not a fuse problem. The controller switch is not working and needs replaced.

Replace Thermostat in 1998 Buick Park Avenue

this doesnt sound like a thermostat problem, rather a restricted heater core.
The thermostat housing, however, is a cheap cross-your-fingers-fix, and can be located by tracing the upper radiator hose back to the engine. The housing the hose is clamped to is where the thermostat is located. Remove 2 bolts, and replace thermostat.
