SOURCE: removing overhead console 03 sedonda w/ homelink

There are only two screws to contend with but they are behind the homelink module. To remove the homelink module you're going to use a butter knife. The blade on a butter knife is smooth and if you can find one without any teeth on it, all the better. Stick the knife into the gap between the homelink module and the left side of console housing and pry down on the homelink module. Repeat for the right side and the homelink module should pop out. Once it's out of the way, remove the two screws that hold the console housing to the roof. Now that those screws are removed all that remains is to grab ahold of the front of the console housing (edge toward the windshield) and pull straight down. It can be painful to do this part since you're inserting fingers into a tight space but remember to be gentle. There are two plastic ears on the housing that slide into slots (common trim panel anchors really) and I can see that it could be possible to break them off if one isn't careful.

Hope this helps.

Sunroof cable broke how to close it

remove overhead console, then remove the metal bracket, then you'll have access to the sunroof motor bolts. Remove the motor and you'll probably see that the cable is damaged. Use a pair of wire cutters and cut it out of the way and then feed the cable back into the groove/slot( you'll have to move the sunroof by hand while doing this). Then put the motor back in and turn the key on to opperate the sunroof closed. That should hold you over untill a replacement part is found. Very easy to do with a phillips and a 10mm socket & wratchet.

2002 F-150 supercrew My coumpas-outside tem.quti working.Were is the fuse?

The overhead display is powered by the same circuit for the overhead console, so if the vanity mirrors still work, chances are the fuse is fine.

Just in case, push the button a few times, to make sure the display is not turned off.
The overhead displays have a chance of the surface mounted resistors becoming unsoldered over time.
You can get one at a junk yard, or if you are good with a soldering iron, you can reattach the surface mounted resistors. Pull the overhead console down, and remove the display ( T10 screws holding the display to the console ). There are 2 plastic tabs holding the display together, release these.
On the back of the circuit board, you are looking for a resistor that looks like this :

Overhead console, display gauge no power

This is a problematic module. It seems as though the soldering done on the module to complete the circuits was performed without taken into consideration that a vehicle on the road rolls over bumps, and gets warm and cold very quickly. All this points to this being your problem. The module itself is VERY expensive. This is not your only recourse. There are companies that repair these modules, for less than $50.00. is the e-mail for David Ruhberg. He will repair the unit, and guarantees his work. To get the module out, there is one screw in the sunglasses compartment, holding the whole overhead console to the roof of the vehicle. Once it's removed, you need to lightly wiggle and pry the console until it comes separated from the friction catches. After that, remove the connector from the module, and remove the module from the console. The vehicle will run fine without the module.

For the non rail system overhead console :

There are spring clips holding the console to the roof.

Open the compartment, and grasp each corner, and pull down. This will take a moderate amount of pull to release the spring clips.

There are 4 or 6 spring clips holding the console to the ceiling, at the least the center spring clips will release when you pull down on the rear.
remove the front held in place by the spring clips. There are 2 connectors for the overhead console, these have ~ 6" if slack in them.

From this point, you can remove the connectors, or you will see the gray bulb holders for the map / interior lamps. These are 1/4 twist bulb holders.

Use a small screw driver and pry open the garage door opener storage bin. You will see 1 screw there that you will remove.
Pull the front of the overhead console down and remove the console from the console retaining clips.

I cannot get my map lights in my 2004 f-150 xlt super cab replaced haw can i replace them ?

FROM LustyKid:

You need to take off the overhead console to access the lights. My overhead snaps on and off. Be very carful. Others you need to remove the lenses on the lights, then you remove the screws holding the fixture to access the light bulbs, Reverse the process to install. Don't pry. If it doesn't come off, something is holding it, look for screws in other places. Lenses have areas where you unlatch very carfully so you don't break the lense is made of plastick and craks easily. Too much force, you are in the place, look for the locking tabs somewhere near the center of the outer eadge for the lense.

Sometimes you see like a small round plug. Those you can pry off with jewelers screw drivers and once off you can see the screws.

If they are the ones on the doors the trimming will have to be remove very carfully from the door. Once all the screws are out and the snaps loose, some door panels go up to loosen them from the door, not outward like most. Pull outward you will break the retaining plastic L.. If not sure, ask the dealer dudes they are very helpful sometimes. (For Free)
