SOURCE: i have a 04 hd2500

try wiggling the wires in the accelorator sensor connector.sometimes the wires break inside the insulation and it is real hard to find.they usually break from 1 to 4 inches from the connector.if you dont find the problem there i would disconnect the computer and see if there is corrosion in the connectors.i have seen this happen to.hope this helps.good luck.

SOURCE: engine won't start and shows trouble code P1516 and reduced engine power light is on

Here is the definition of the code.

Possible causes - Faulty Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) module
- Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) module harness is open or shorted
- Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) module circuit poor electrical connection (loose or broken wires)

P1516 CHEVROLET Description The Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) module contains data which is essential for proper TAC operation. The TAC module continuously test the integrity of this data. When the TAC module is unable to write or read data to and from Random Access Memory (RAM), or the TAC module is unable to correctly read data from the flash memory or and internal TAC module processor fault is detected and the Detected Trouble Code (DTC) is set.

Pontiac grand prix 2007 car shutting off, with Start disabled throttle control module.

It doesn't say module , Starting Disabled Due To Electronic Throttle Control !
The throttle actuator control (TAC) system delivers improved throttle response and greater reliability and eliminates the need for mechanical cable. The TAC system performs the following functions:
• Accelerator pedal position (APP) sensing
• Throttle positioning to meet driver and engine demands
• Throttle position sensing
• Internal diagnostics
• Cruise control functions
• Manage TAC electrical power consumption
The TAC system includes the following components:
• The APP sensors
• The throttle body assembly
• The powertrain control module (PCM)
Normal Mode
During the operation of the throttle actuator control (TAC) system, several modes or functions are considered normal. The following modes may be entered during normal operation:
• Minimum pedal value--At key-up, the powertrain control module (PCM) updates the learned minimum pedal value.
• Minimum throttle position (TP) values--At key-up, the PCM updates the learned minimum throttle position value. In order to learn the minimum throttle position value, the throttle blade is moved to the closed position.
• Ice break mode--If the throttle is not able to reach a predetermined minimum throttle position, the ice break mode is entered. During the ice break mode, the PCM commands the maximum pulse width several times to the throttle actuator motor in the closing direction.
• Battery saver mode--After a predetermined time without engine RPM, the PCM commands the battery saver mode. During the battery saver mode, the TAC module removes the voltage from the motor control circuits, which removes the current draw used to maintain the idle position and allows the throttle to return to the spring loaded default position.
Reduced Engine Power Mode
When the PCM detects a condition with the TAC system, the PCM may enter a reduced engine power mode. Reduced engine power may cause one or more of the following conditions:
• Acceleration limiting--The PCM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however the vehicle acceleration is limited.
• Limited throttle mode--The PCM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control however the maximum throttle opening is limited.
• Throttle default mode--The PCM will turn off the throttle actuator motor and the throttle will return to the spring loaded default position.
• Forced idle mode--The PCM will perform the following actions:
- Limit engine speed to idle by positioning the throttle, or by controlling the fuel and spark if the throttle is turned off.
- Ignore the accelerator pedal input.
• Engine shutdown mode--The PCM will disable fuel and de-energize the throttle actuator.

P2101 and p1516

1. This engine uses the Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) system. Thoroughly clean the throttle bore and throttle plate.

2. Inspect the air intake system for a missing or contaminated air filter

there is also a tsb on it TSB 07-06-04-003 for p1516 that involves replacing the pcm

Attention: The following bulletin information is only to be used if the customer has returned for REPEAT repairs for DTCs P1516, P2135 and/or P2138.

Condition

Some customers may comment on engine operation in the Reduce Engine Power mode with the MIL/SES light illuminated. This condition may be repeated and upon investigation, the technician may find the following DTCs set as current or in history:

• DTC P1516 Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) Module Throttle Actuator Position Performance
• DTC P2135 Throttle Position (TP) Sensor 1-2 Correlation
• DTC P2138 Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 1-2 Correlation

Important: DO NOT replace the APP sensor. Inspect the PCM build date first.

Before following the diagnostic information in SI on DTCs P1516, P2135 and/or P2138, an inspection of the PCM serial number year and Julian (PCM build) date will be necessary to determine if the PCM will need to be replaced to correct the repeat DTC P1516. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement in SI in order to remove the PCM. Refer to the above graphic illustration (1) for the location of the PCM serial number.

The serial number is read left to right. The last digit of the year is the 9th character and the Julian date is comprised of the 10th, 11th and 12th characters and is used to determine the PCM build date. Refer to the example below to read a build date from the PCM serial number:

* 8 6 Y N AU K 1 5 3 2 5 0 R P N *

If the PCM year and Julian dates are between 5182 and 5304 , replace the PCM. Refer to the Part Catalog to order the correct PCM for your vehicle application, if necessary.

Vehicles with PCM built outside the dates should refer to SI diagnostics for DTCs P1516, P2135 and/or P2138

2004 Trailblazer 6 cyl. idles too low and sometimes will kill but runs great. A scan code of P0606 comes up which relates to the pcm but this has been going on for over a year and it helps idle better...

The low idle could be caused by a dirty throttle body (TB). Take the TB off the intake and clean it thoroughly front and back sides. While doing the cleaning, disconnect the battery to reset the PCM. This will allow it to relearn to the cleaned TB.
As far as the P0606 code, it is possible that the PCM only needs to be reflashed (memory reloaded). This can only be done by a GM dealer.

The reduce engine light comes on at 50 mph what could the problem be

DTC P0120 P0220 P1516 P2135 these should be the problem codes.
2003-2006 Chevrolet Avalanche, Corvette, Express, Monte Carlo, Silverado, SSR, Suburban, Tahoe, Trailblazer. for reduced engine power. p0120 is throttle position sensor, ( tps ). p0220 is relates to tps, p1516 tps is out of range. p2135 is a throttle body code, the throttle body needs replaced. but before you do it replace tps first to see if it takes care of the other codes. have a good day !!

What are the problems PO601 and PO121? how to solve them. thanks

121 is the throttle position sensor(TPS), 601 is control module memory error.(ECM,PCM)
I would replace the tps and erase the codes and go from there. If your getting crappy gas milage thi is because of the tps. It is located on the side of the throotle body. Opposite of the throotle cables. not hard to replace. Let me know

PO121 code still on, replaced o2 sensors, replaced cracked air tube, put seafoam in gas. reset computer, light came back on after 40 miles. same codes. DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES PO171 System Too Lean...

PO121 : TP Sensor Performance = The PCM supplies 5V to the TP sensor(throttle position). The TP sensor is a variable resistor that drops the voltage to about 4 volts at WOT(wide open throttle) to less than 1 volt at closed throttle. Some TP sensors are adjustable. others have a learn procedure to determine closed throttle. PO171 Fuel Trim System Lean = In closed loop the PCM adjusts fuel delivery based on H2OS 1 readings and is indicated by long & short fuel trim values. If lean the PCM will add fuel (fuel trim above 0%) & if rich the PCM will reduce fuel(fuel trim below 0%) PO128 ECT Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature = possible failed thermostat, low or empty on coolant, Engine Coolant Temp Sensor, Poor connection/Harness/Wires, faulty PCM Connection. I think you hit the nail on the head , the ECT Sensor ( which is different than the temp sensor for the dash gauge)

Engine power reduced . it just came on come home from work . 5 hr leter i went to go to the store the car would not go over 10 mph 2006 cobalt

you may need to take this to a dealer
you need to find out if
CODES P1516,P2135 and/orP2138 are set in HISTORY
check the julian date on the PCM
under the hood drivers side just in front of the POSITIVE post there is a cover remove that cover that is the PCM
on there there will be a sticker with a bar code and numbers
look something like this * 8 6 Y N AU K 1 5 3 2 5 0 R P N *
the 9th,10 11 and 12th digit
if the PCM has the numbers BETWEEN 5182 and 5304 then the PCM will need to be replaced
see the number i used is NOT EFFECTED it has a 5325
if your is NOT EFFECTED
then mostly will have one of the codes listed
will need to be diag. APP sensor
hopes this helps
and not sure how many miles you have on the car
but they have a POWERTRAIN WARRENTY
