The brake light switch will be in the side or base of the foot valve . It is air operated and activates when the foot brakes are applied . It should be about 1 1/4 " in diameter with 2 wires to it

I'm looking for a wiring diagram for a 1972 International UTE Liner Motorhome. Or help with an ignition switch that is overheating and break lights/turn signals quit at same time.Thank you in advanced

Type your question in Google click images and you should find it somewhere on there. Just write year and vehicle model then type wiring diagrams. If fails write again what I said but instead of wiring diagrams type schematics, good luck

Diagram for wiring for break lights on rav4 1996

The AutoZone website may have a wiring diagram in the sites self help repair section.

If you have a voltmeter check for voltage and ground continuity at the bulbs. Check for voltage before and after the brake switch (operate the switch). If you don't have a voltmeter connect something up with a 12V bulb.

If you have voltage after the switch (when operated) but none at the bulb might check the brake/tail light sensor. This is the actual sensor box located in the trunk, drivers side. The sensor can fail resulting no brake lights.

There have been various posts at this forum on the sensor, suggest you do a site search to find these and review them.

But first start checking for voltage.

Right break light is not working on my 2000 malibu. Switch light bulb but break light does not work. Turn signal works and hazards work..

is it both lights? If yes, check 15 amp stop light fuse first. If good, check brake switch above pedal.

If only one brake light isn't working, you have a broken wire. See diagram below to trace wires.

I have the left and right blinker figured out. I also have the parking lights and the reverse lights. Coming from the truck the black wire is parking Blue is reverse Yellow is driver blinker and green is...

"Brake," not "break."

Without knowing the year make and model it is impossible to be specific.

But I can say this: Many cars use the same filament (and therefore the same wire to the socket) for the brake and turn signal. That filament is on steady while your foot is on the brake, and the turn signal is not being used. Turn on the turn signal, and that filament is disconnected from the brake-light system by the T/S switch, but is connected by that switch to the T/S flasher.

My break lights wont go off.

Your brakelight switch is faulty.
Inspect your brake pedal for a switch mounted near the top of the pedal.
You will find it stuck in, out of position, or internally broken.

Here is what it may look like...

28608a5.jpg
It is adjustable, but if the brake pedal is not touching it while parked, it has failed internally and needs to be replaced.

replacing it involves a little tricky maneuvering under the dash to reach the switch and you need to be very aware of the orientation when fitting. PLEASE BE AWARE that you are messing with the brake pedal and if you fit this part incorrectly you could interfere with the brake pedal travel and cause a dangerous driving situation. Only fit this part once you have fully inspected the part to be removed, and preferably look at a workshop diagram. Some switches are easy some are not. Most take me 10-15 mins.

Left rear blinker and break light stopped working 84 eldorado

See if you can locate a wiring diagram for your vehicle. I have a 92 Seville and the wiring for the brakes and blinkers runs through the turn signal switch. The switch generally goes bad just from everyday use. They lose connection and you get intermittent problems (much like yours). Consult a wiring diagram, if they do run through the switch then I would recommend replacing that. Start there. Cheers.

ALL BREAK LIGHTS NOT WORKING

Have you checked your brake light fuse? If it is good do your rear turn signals work? If you have turn signal and no brake lights it is probably the turn signal switch these are a common problem and your power for your brake lights goes through your turn signal switch. Sometimes it is actually the hazard switch that melts but this can not be serviced alone. If you have no rear turn signals and no break lights it could still be the turn signal switch but is more likely to be a wiring problem in the rear usually trailer wiring T connections. Chiltons has wiring diagrams in there manuals but they are not always accurate. Let me know if I can help you further and please rate.

My break lights dont work!!

Make sure that your hazard switch is all the way OFF I have seen this problem. But here power comes in the brake light switch from the fuse, when you press on the brake it closes and powers the other wire that goes up into the steering column into the turn signal switch and then out to the brake lights I can send you a wiring diagram if you send me your email to fixincars@yahoo.com
