Could my transmission be slipping

I just got this jeep saturday night it is a 2007 with 26000 miles on it... when u press the gas to drive and you are drving and it states to shift on its on (automatic) it kinda slips into that next gear... u can feel it pull... so my questions are....is there alot of problems with this year make and model????? I have 3 days to trade it in for another kind of used car? This car is covered under factory warrenty until 36000 or one more year??? please let me know asap thanks

Quick check is to accellerate from a stop with steady even pressure on the gas. Watch the tach. It should have a good shift at approximately 2000 rpm and the tach should not jump higher during the actual shift (called flairing) This should be the same for each shift. Converter lockup (4th gear shift) should cause tach to drop about 500rpm and should happen at about 45mph. Then repeat the same process using a more agressive acceleration.
Shift points in rpms may be a bit higher but each shift should not flair. To check lockup, while driving at about 50mph, lightly touch brake pedal and you should feel ti disengage for a moment. Since you have an opportunity to return it, It would not be a bad idea to get a hands on evaluation from another shop you trust...I can't see it from here and a live person is better equipped to give an informed opinion.

that shudder is called MISFIRE.

no its not the trans,
if it dont slip, its not trans, (see RPM races? that is slip or too low gear)
if it shifting to the right gears, its not the trans can you count them?
is the CEL lamp glowing or flashing driving, is yes, that means
scan me now. in fact scanning while it shudders, is like (magic)
why start guessing, do a tuneup,
then scan it.
if its is misfire the PCM will tell you what cylinder misfires.

are your spark plugs 6 years old, if yes, why?
going for 200k miles on them.?

When im driving my 02 tahoe, sometimes when i stop and make a left turn pressing the accelerator to give it gas to speed up to like 5 or 10 miles per hr and when i let the gas goes reaching to that speed....


slip and grab in your transmission put some lucas transmission slip-stop in and run in park position at 3000 rpms for 5 min then change into reverse and see what happens

Hi!!

When was the last time you service the tranny?

Fluid should be topped to level, pinkish in color and no burnt smell.

This happened two months ago; my cousin's Intrigue was slipping on 2nd n 3rd when it reached 2000 rpms. and some times when trying to take off suddenly, Have to released the gas a little and you could feel it engaging again.

Solution: Changed Transmission fluid and filter and added one bottle of RISLONE Transmission Stop Slip and Leak Repair I got at AutoZone ($10), It stopped the slipping after driving the car a couple of miles, you can actually feel more traccion in all gears and my cousin says is even giving more miles X gallon. He drives the car about 80 miles a day and is been over two months since. It may sound like a commercial ad but that stuff works great!!!

Low transmission fluid is usually the only reason power engages late or slippage occurs. But changing the transmission fluid again would not hurt. The stuff really shouldn't deteriorate like engine oil. Be sure to not run the vehicle many miles until the problem is completely resolved < 100 miles. One easy check would be to make sure the transmission lines are well connected and maintain pressure as well as fluid level. The good thing is that Toyota has a reputation of very good transmissions.

2000 Jeep Cherokee suddenly looses traction


Sounds like the transmission is slipping. Check the transmission fluid level and top off as needed. If the problem is not severe, an additive such as Lucas transmission additive may help.

make sure all of the cables on the spark plugs are connected correctly, if so, replace all the spark pluks, if not that replace the wiring distrubution harness

Acceleration - cannot get above 40 miles per hr.


If the engine revs up while in drive and running at 40mph, your transmission is probably slipping. Try checking your transmission fluid level. If it is OK, I would get it by a garage to have them look at it to cofirm.
