I replaced the water pump in my z28 and once i had every thing back together the engine wont start, ive looked around and every thing looks properly connected, any ideas on what to look for?

since on that model the distribitor happens to be behind the water pump is it possible that you may have either got water inside the cap when you took off the old water pump or perhaps the distribitor connection is not on all the way /a wire got broken

1996 gmc jimmy wont start seems like advanced timing issue backfiring out throttlebody, replaced timing pick up, distribitor cap, crank sensor, ICM, when ignition conrol module replace the engine ran fine...

You said the problem happened right after the engine was replaced correct? If so bring number cylinder to top dead center on the compression stroke. Remove the distributor cap and see if the rotor is lined up with the number one spark plug wire. It's possible the distributor was installed 180 degrees out.

Car has a skip and not firing properly on all cylinders

Before you go checking parts that aren't there, unplug each coilpack connector one at a time with the engine running. After unplugging a coilpack you should hear the idle drop. If you unplug a connector and there is no change in idle, that is your problem cylinder. You can then check to see if there is spark by removing the coilpack and touching it to a ground on the engine, you'll hear it click. If you have spark, check the spark plug, if the spark plug is good, it's most likely a bad fuel injector. You can verify a bad injector by doing a resistance test after removing the connector. Injector replacement is a nightmare on these cars, but it can be done without pulling the plenum if you're mechanically inclined. Visit www.zcar.com for more help.

is the engine turning faster than usual.is so might be a timing belt take the distribitor cap off and see if the rotor button turns while someone is cranking it.if its not sounding like the motor is turning over faster than usual while your cranking it.(sounds usual but just wont start)it could be the modual in the distribitor gone bad .thanks jeff
