The A/T temp controller in the middle of the dash is where you change temperature fan speed etc. Looks like on the right hand side the back light is dimmer than the left side. I think one of the bulbs is burned out.I believe if you are careful the bulb might be replaceable but I'm not sure. Can you find out if these bulbs can be soldered in the board. The dealer says,"the whole unit needs to be replaced"(498.00)I understand that but I'm taking a chance that someone has already done this repair an can tell me is it worth the try.or will the attempt destroy the board.

It can be done, but it's better to take it to a electronic shop to do the repair rather then your self. I had the LED screen on the radio go bad and did not now what station or time it was, the screen was dead and the dealer said the same thing. I found a electronic repair shop, they repair mine and in two days and cost me $45.00 with  a radio good as new. Good luck and hope this helps.

The AC is blowing hot on driver & passenger sides of 07 H2 Hummer. The speed control & position (ie. Dash, Middle, Lower) works properly. Just Temperature is affected. Does the AC have any fuses?...

is the system charge sufficient? for hot air comjng from both sides very unlikely that both temp door actuators have gone bad at the same time. I would check to make sure the a/c clutch is working before going into the electronic controls in the dash.

Hi!!
When the Blower Motor Resistor (controls blower speeds) goes bad, the blower motor works only on HIGH SPEED. REPLACE IT.
BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR Removal & Installation
  • Disconnect negative battery cable.
  • Remove right lower instrument panel insulator panel.
  • Disconnect blower resistor connector located behind right side of dash.
  • Remove blower resistor screws and blower resistor.
To install, reverse removal procedure
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa!!

My 2000 Jetta TDI blows cold air while driving. No fun this winter! I would expect a bad thermostat; but I understand if the thermostat is bad a warning light would be lit on the dash. Is that the case?

No, this is not your case. If the thermostat is bad any warning light would be lit on the dash.
First time you might check the thermostat operating.
Heed of antifreeze coolant temperature!!!

The thermostat location for 2000 VW Jetta 1.9 TDI, is on back of the alternator at the bottom side of the bracket.
IMPORTANT: It is NOT necessary to replace the alternator if you want to change the thermostat !!!
Thermostat checking:
1. Cold engine. Start up the engine and watch of the water temp indicator. After first value 60 Celsius Degree you still warm up the engine until the lifter (pointer) reach 80 C deg. (second mark after 60 C deg.). At this time you let engine running at idle speed and check with your hand the thermostat plastic housing and hose temperature in bottom left side of the engine. Heed of alternator driving belt and ventilator fan !!!
2. If the thermostat is good the hose must be cold until the water temp indicator reach almost 90 C deg.
3. The thermostat opening temperature is 87 C deg.
4. If the hose is already warm the thermostat is out of order.

Thermostat location, Part number: 044121113, in german - "Kuehlregle" (Price around $25):

Important note: Always replace the thermostat round seal, position 7 in the above picture.

Fan switch on dash doesn't work. No control to the fan speed. This looks like a complete unit along with the slider controls for the heat, air, defrost, etc.

If the switch is bad,it is a seperate piece that unscrews from the control head.
I would check for power at the resistor block first(controls fan speeds) It's in the case ,a four wire connector ,think on this car it's inside ,just right of the transmission tunnel.

Is there some type of sensor that tells the thermostat to open or a sensor to tell the fan to come on if so whats the name of the sensor for 1995 acura legend my car just start doing this after i noticed a...

The thermostat on the radiator opens by heat automatically. The fan switch is run by the Engine temp Sensor and the ECM. If your fan is not running it is most likely a problem with the fan or the Temp sensor, I would look at the fan first.

Heat blower only works on high

there is a ballst resistor or "fan controll module"(for any body under 30)that controlls fan speed and when that burns out it only operates on high. it should be located nearest the fan under the passenger side of the dash.

Dashboard lights 2002 Rendezvous

I had to replace the Comfort Control module last year. This is the unit with the 3 dials (etc) on it just below the radio. GM wanted $410 in Toronto so I bought one at a scrapyard for $160 out of a 2005 RVS. I was told by GM dealer that some fancy PCB was inside the module that would eventually cause the entire instrument panel not to light. It solved my problem.

Hopefully this helps.
