If you use a pair of pliers you can some times pull the cable enough to get it to release. Try having some one push down on the hood while you are pullin the cable. Then have them stop pulling and you let off the cable. it may work. Also you can use a long pick/hook tool and go in through the grill, You can see where the cable hooks to the release, and you can get it to let go. That may be a little more tricky if you don't know what you are looking at.

Try having someone on the outside, putting weight on the hood and then try it. Sometimes there can be too much tension on the latch and you cant open it. If that's the case adjust it down with the rubber bumpstops. Hope it helps.

So if you tried that im sure you tried having someone lift up on it too while you pull the release? Hood latches can be pretty difficult when they mess up. Mainly I think because they are so simple. Good luck

2005 quattro , battery is dead and hood wont release. Is it an elecrtonic release?

Heidi, No electric release. The latch is probably stuck. While you pull the interior hood release have an assistant push down and pull up repeatably/vigorously until hood releases from stuck position. Lube latch and cable before closing hood. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Why can't hood be opened?

This is going to sound crazy, but it _frequently_ works. First, the problem is that your lock assembly and/or cable lacks lubricant and got stuck. So, once you get it opened, you need to spray the lock assembly and as far as you can reach into the cable with WD40 or a similar penetrating lubricant.

Now for the trick to get it open. Place a towel on the hood of the car to protect it. Now take the "ball" of your hand and whack the top of the hood (right over the lock area) as _hard_ as you can (without denting it) quickly about 3 to 5 times.. You're hitting it trying to make it go "down with a shock" to release what's stuck. Then try opening it. You may be surprised to find it worked. The alternative involves a lot of time and labor to take it apart. You'd think there was a "trick" that the dealer knows, but no. After you get it opened, _do not_ close it again until you thoroughly lubricate it.

How to open hood 2008n nissan versa hood latch cable broken

I know a trick from a local body shop. If you have a sawzall with a metal blade, then cut the latch to open the hood, and go to a salvage or junk yard to get a replacement and install. Be sure to put a new cable in to replace the broken one, of course.

Long cranking after refueling

Hello calafrmc.

When this happens it is usually the canister purge solenoid stuck open.
This solenoid/valve is normally closed.
It only opens when the vehicle is on the road to open and allow the vapors stored in the carbon canister to be burned in the engine.
If it is stuck open it allows the vapors when you are filling to enter the engine and flood it out with the vapor.
This valve will need to be replaced. It is under the hood but I will need to know which engine is in your Envoy and if it is 2 or 4 wheel drive.
Leave this information to me in a comment here and I will try to find you a location Diagram.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Help please. The Hood Latch inside the van will not disengage, how can I open my Hood ?

This is a tough one but can be done, you will need to use a long screw driver and from under the van try to push on the release lever, this is the lever that the cable connects to to release the hood, you can also try from the grill area, this also depends on where the cable broke, or maybe the hood is just stuck, have somone pull up on the hood while you pull and release the hood cable this is to see if the latch is just sticking, hope this helps.

Broken hood release cable. Can't open hood

this is a hard one it depends on where it broke, can you cut the housing to get to cable core and pull with pleirs, if it snapped at latch then you will need to remove the grill or go from the bottom and try to hit the release the same wat the cable did, sometime if you grab the cable near the latch and pull hard it will open, good luck.

Find a pickup the same year and model. With this hood open, Take a coat hanger and bend the hanger to the correct shape to snake into your pickup and hook onto the hood latch. Practice a little on the hood open, partial closed etc until you are comfortable snaking this into the latch.
