The best way I have found to understand these codes is to go to OBD CODES.COM These are very helpful in explaining the codes for you to understand them. It is a trouble code which sometimes is also associated with po740,po742 which is a generic obd2 powertrain code.The information from the above mentioned site is written by a master certified technician. 2000silverado Code Po171 Comes on What can I do to fix this?
well this could be a few things causing this problem, with out a scan tool its hard to pinpiont, it coulb be a bad oxygen sensor or two, a dirty or bad mass air flow sensor or a vaccum leak cause by a broken vac hose or boot for throtle body is loose, hope this helps.
