This sounds to me like your timing belt broke. If it is an interference-fit engine, the valve train was most likely damaged. I wish I had better news for you! :(

Is this a 4 cylinder or is it a V6? The 4 cylinders weren't interference fits engines. V6 models did use interference fit engines. If your timing belt broke, and you have a V6, it's possible that your car could have sustained severe valve damage.

Oil smell and smoke 2006 buick lucerne

is the smoke coming from under the car or out the exaust pipe?
under the car ! you have an oil leak and its probably landing on your exhaust pipe which by the way can ignite and go on fire if the pipe gets too hot. if its out the exaust ! computer or air intact problems. worst case: rings are bad and oil is mixing with the gas in the piston chamber. Hope this helps a little good luck and God Bless

Overheating still has coolant, white part blew out of the tailpipe, made a banging noise then starting smoking. Overheating with all fluid high. Told there was a front seal oil leak but not bad. Lost 2...

  • White smoke out out the tail pipe means you might have just blown your head gasket. White smoke is water (antifreeze) burning with the oil.

Loud noise in the steering column;gear box replacd recently

Dealer, but did you check the Power steering fluid level??or any leaks. There are two hose that connect to the gear box from the power steering pump. if the pump is low on fluid you lose your power steering, if the hose has a leak or it blew and lost the power steering fluid then you lost your power steering again.
Check the fluid level to the power steering pump and any leaks or broken hose to the gear box.
Keep me posted, be glad to help and good luck.
