Look the trans over and see where the bolt came from. Check trans fluid level it may have run low. If low, re-fill it and start it up...perhaps you can find where the bolt came from if it's leaking from the open bolt hole.

This problem is due to, either, worn shifter linkage, or, bad fluid. First, try changing the fluid. If that doesn't fix it, check linkage for worn parts,

How to remove auto transmission on 2006 1500 silverado just rwd....

Disconnect battery > remove driveline> catch fluid with container
that may come out rear shaft or use a shaft fluid cap > remove torque converter bolts> remove housing bolts that connect trans to
engine >remove cross member use floor jack or similar to lower trans don't forget to remove dipstick assembly. Some trans have
a drain plug if so drain fluid prior to removal.install is reverse fill with factory GM trans fluid not aftermarket.after filling shift into all
gears twice check fluid in park or neutral if okay then check for leaks if no leaks lower truck and test drive check fluid once more
on level ground.
Good luck on your journey.

2088 ford explorer 50,000 miles small spots of transmission fluid on driveway, is this going to be a huge transmission repair?

You could just have loose trans pan bolts or leaks at cooling line fittings. I don't have the Torque specs on hand for the trans bolts but you will need a smaller Torque Wrench rated in inch-lbs. rather than foot-lbs. for the small size these units use.

What you could try is a trans filter change/cleaning which is done by taking the trans pan off and servicing the trans filter. The pan would be reinstalled.

Now go to a shop which uses new pan gaskets because your old one may be leaking and may need to replaced anyway.

SOME FAST CHANGE OIL SERVICES OFFER TRANSMISSION FLUID SERVICES-BUT THEY WILL ONLY PUMP OUT THE OLD FLUID WITH A MACHINE AND WILL NOT REMOVE THE TRANS PAN. Your trans needs to be looked at for leaks and the above procedure will not fix your problem.

It is not impossible to have a tailshaft seal leak or shift solenoid covers leak, even a speedometer cable fitting can leak. A visual inspection will tell.

If you are careful, and find a leaking trans pan, tightening it up with a 1/4 inch drive Rachet is all you need in lieu of a Torque wrench. Can not emphasize enough not to reef on these tiny bolts.

How hard is it to replace rear end output shaft seals (inner axel seals) 98 town and country? What fluid goes back in?

I assume you mean trans axle seals in front.
You have to remove the drive axles, best done on a lift, not in your driveway.
Trans fluid lubes the Diff, that is in trans.
ATF4 etc, whatever the fluid replaced the original spec, when it was new.

You must remove the transmission pan to change the fluid, there is no drain plug.

Auto trans

Artie first check the fluid level with the trans warm Idleing in neutral if it is low top it up with only hyundai trans fluid if this also if the fluid has a strong aroma to it, the fluid should be replaced although this is a sign of a failure in the trans and will be getting close to the time where it needs to be replaced
