If your "battery" light on the dash is going on and staying on the alternator is definitely faulty, either the diodes or the wiring. However, if the light doesn't come on when you turn the ignition key to "IG" position - befort it starts - check that the bulb is ok. The alternator won't work if the bulb is dead.

Remove, clean, and reinstall battery cables at battery. Then ck charging system with a voltmeter. The proper charging range is 13..6 to 14.2 volts at the battery terminals. The lower the voltage (23.6v) the higher the charging ampa (65 amp with a 65 amp alternator. - good luck. If charge voltage is at 13.6v and lower, have the battery fluids ck'd.

Remove the battery and charge it to at least 12v. I would have it tested at autozone to be certain it is not bad. If the battery is good, and after giving it a full charge the alternator still does not work, then have the alternator tested at autozone. They do the diagnostics for free, and can even do it while the battery and alternator are still in the car. I hope this helps find your problem.

Alternator not charging battery (replaced alternator and same issue) tested and no codes showing, alternator shows good and battery shows good. Could be a break in a wire between the two or what Help

Yes. The field control wire feeding power into the alternator needs testing and the output from the alternator to your battery also needs testing. Either one can cause low charging of the battery. Corrosion or loose connections are common issues as well as broken strands of wire internally . A fuse or fuseable link sometimes burns out in the cable from the alternator to the battery .

I have 2006 ford taurus check charging system and battery light on what's the problem help me please

Battery Light usually means the alternator is not charging correctly and needs to be replaced. Check charging volts, it should at 14 volts or very close to that number. If the number is low below 12 then the alternator needs to be replaced.

Note: A bad alternator can damage the battery & vise versa

Chevy van g20 year 1994 the battery dies has new battery and new alternator but each morning its dead need to charge the battery need help have any ideas and please talk problem please

Does the battery light work when you switch the ignition on? This provides a live feed to the alternator via the ignition bulb, the rotor needs a live feed to start the charge process, if the bulb has blown it won't charge (thin wire connected to the IND on the alternator). To check for a power drain, disconnect the negative battery lead put a AMP meter in series, (DON'T TRY TO START, YOU WILL BLOW THE METER). If you get a reading above 0.05amps (clock) you have a drain, pull the fuses one at a time and watch for a drop in the meter reading. Hope this helps.

The alternator will not charge the battery but AutoZone tested the alternator good then they said it could be the battery well it also tested good. I called a mechanic and he said it could be the wire in...

You need someone to test the charging system on the truck.
The warning light is on when the alternator is not producing power. The yellow white wire going to the alternator is on a 15amp fuse and it could be dead.

I REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR IN MY 2001 MITSUBISHI MIRAGE AND THE BATTERY BUT IT STILL WONT CHARGE ,THE NEW ALT. WAS CHECKED AND IS GOOD. ALSO ALL FUSES ARE GOOD. AM I MISSING SOMETHING?

You need to check the charging circuit which is most important to the automatic charging of the battery to keep it in brim condition. Hence the alternator current will feed into the charging regulator which determines how much the battery needs to be charged . check this unit by tracing the alternator wiring and use a ammeter to check the battery charge current. get help if you are not equipped.

The battery is lossing power in the battery and when i hit the breaks the battery light comes on

Sir. lets figure what is happening to fixing it
Your car`s battery is loosing it`s charge because it is not charged in proper manners thinking why ? Simply what charges the battery is the alternator after the car is running it the engine drive the alternator ant different speeds when alternator is revving faster with faster engine revs it produce lots of electric that the battery may don`t need and could harm the battery
when revving low the alternator my generate less than 12 voltage
the alternator is need something called the Regulators witch as name suggests regulates the voltage generated adjust it to constant limit that the car needs to work fine
alternator belt and pulley
have a good day Sir .
we are happy helping you any time

2001 Sebring. Dies immediately after removing jumper cables. Died while driving and no power at all unless on the cables. Alternator or other computer problem???

If you have everything electrical shut off? You should be able to run it without the battery with the charge from the Alternator. Your alternator is bad. replace it. That is a test that mechanics do to test an alternator. They try a fully charged battery to start the car then remove the positive terminal it should continue running. If it doesn't? You know you have a bad connection on the alternator or a bad alternator.
Please leave a great comment for me. On here.

I've replaced the battery and the alternator on my 2003 Isuzu Rodeo. But when traveling for several hours with headlights on the battery will go dead and the alternator won't charge till it cools off....

Sounds like there's still something wrong with the charging system. Did you verify alternator output?
(Volts/amps) Should charge at about 13.5 - 14.5 volts when engine at medium idle. About 65 amps w/o a/c, about 85 amps with a/c. If you've got the non a/c alt in a vehicle with a/c, amps falling short may cause intermittent charging/problems.

Does engine exhaust leak blow on alternator? Had this symptom before-it can ruin your alternator also.

Battery going dead-either the battery won't HOLD a charge or the alternator is not charging it. One or the other is your problem. Verify alternator output as described earlier, then need to do a LOAD test on the battery with a full charge.

Hope this helps.
