1997 Chrysler sebring 2 door sedan sun roof

1997 2.5L was running rough changed spark plugs, cap and rotor, ignintion wires and fuel filter now cranks and will not start! any sugestions?

Did u cross ur wires?gap right? fuel filter can be installed backwards..just some suggestions

I have a 1997 sebring lxi. It now will not turn over. I sprayed starter fluid in the intake and it turns over. I changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, and the relay. What else could it be?


Do you hear the fuel pump coming on normally comes on for approx 10 sec. when you turn key on, if no pump noise fault is still in fuel system, check the fuse and wiring, check for trouble codes, check injectors, etc

HAVE TO TURN OVER 3 TO 4 TIMES IN ORDER FOR IT TO START,THEN WHEN IT DOES STSRT IT RUNS ROUGH FOR ABOUT 2 TO 4 SECONDS.


I would change the fuel filter, because that could cause all those things. Those are the warning signs that your fuel filter gives you when it is getting clogged up.

BUT it could also be an indication that your fuel pump doesn't have the pressure it should have or that you need a tune up (pay attention to the condition of each spark plug when you remove them to give you an idea of what shape your cylinder and plug wire are in). NOTE: Oil coated spark plugs unusally show that cyclinder rings are failing; wet - fuel coated - wires or cap failure>

I have a 1998 Chrysler Sebring LXi 2 door coupe with the 2.5L SOHC I have 123500 miles on it changed spark plugs and wires distributer cap and rotor not to long ago and did fuel filter to and it sputters...


COULD BE WEAK FUEL PUMP WEAK IGNITION SYSTEM CAUSED BY A BAD COIL CLOGGED AIR FILTER..CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS SEE IF IT HELP.IF NOT YOU HAVE LEAKING INTAKE OR LOW COMPRESSION CYLINDERS.CODE SCAN FOR FAULTY TPS SENSOR.

Spark goes to the dist but not inside to allow fire to plugs


Are you indicating that if you crank the engine that the coil wire sparks but no spark at the plugs? If so, change the cap and rotor.

If you are saying there is voltage to the coil but no spark, I'd look seriously at the crank trigger.

When was the last time you had a complete tune-up?


Spark plugs, wires, distributor cap rotor (cap), fuel filter, & air filter.These are all simple things that keep you car running efficiently. These, along with the oil and oil filter will protect your motor, improve it's reliability, and maintain gas efficiency.

Check your coolant too... .

Are you getting spark to the plugs?? Take off a plug wire and put close to block 1/2" or so)and have someone crank engine-- is there spark?? if yes check ur fuel system--Fuel system could be plugged( filters) or worst fuel pump .

Sounds like misfire. Change spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor , fuel and air filters. Check for oil in spark plug holes. if oil found change valve cover gasket spark plug orings. they can leak oil into spark plug holes and cause misfire.

Fuel injectors or Distributor Cap?


the blinking CEL light is an indication of a miss-fire, run the code retrival test to find out what cylinder is the one missing, at your miles it could be almost anything from a low compression issue to a bad distributor cap, a fuel injector could be the problem, run the test and get back to me, Kragen and other chain parts stores will test the system for codes for FREE!
