Question about 1996 Chevrolet C3500
My vehicle is a 1996 C3500 pickup with a 7.4 liter vortex gas engine-4x4-automatic transmistion.
The problem is the fuel pump relay keeps getting fried. The area where the relay is looks chared. I have replaced the fuel pump several times because when a mechanic tests the psi that the pump is putting out they always tell me it is too low(I believe it reads somewhere around 50 psi). I am not sure but i believe I have replaced the sending unit 1 time as well. I have been told that the only system of the vehicale that that relay is responsible for is the fuel pump but common sense tells me it is not the fuel pump that is causing the problem I have replaced it 5 or 6 times. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time
You are going to have to have the wires from the underside of the relay checked for a short or the contacts for the relay to plug to for tightness.Fuel pumps usually dont burn up relays wires burn up relays like maybe even a pinched wire when the tank was removed and re installed.
