i think you need to have your transmition checked , your transmition may need a serious overhaul ,you may have electric soliniods inside transmition that are ceasing due to not having oil changes regularly , but first thing you may try , is to have filter replaced and oil and see if this helps , if you transmition filter is not reachable by removing oil pan , then gearbox will need to come out .

My 2000 dodge durago 5.2 starts right up but will not go into any gears or reverse. does this only mean my transmission is dead?

is you 2000 dodge manual or automatic gearbox?
manual: check on the properler shaft if its working while gear is engaged then selectors of a gear lever must be in correct possition
automatic: check on transmition oil filter and oil if in good condition

Transmision is not changing gears what could that be?

Stripped govenor gear possibly. Knock off the round cover on the left rear of transmission and pull the governor out, If nylon gear on the end is broken or apple cored replace the gear. Be very careful if you decide to replace govenor the are small differences that make big changes to shift pattern. Also check to make sure the cable that connects to throttle lever from transmission is not broken.

I have BMW 740i my car drive and shits the gears 100% good last night my car had problem in shifing gears some time takes very long to shift or and did not shif after 3D.When I want to stop the car i push...

commonly the prob comes from transmition. if the shifting gear is good that means the clucth still ok. maybe the valve body is problem. just engineering can fix the prob and so costing and no warranty. better looking for halfcut

Passat tiptronic problems.Almost no reverse, gear matching inproperly. transmition breaking in 4th gear.changing down when not needed

may be it has something another problem, but at first i suggest you to change oil in you gear box. in most event it halps, because inproper transmissioning is caused from old (not changed) oil. there are two colors of oils, red and yelow. you will have to choose the right one.
wish you success
