Question about 1999 Volkswagen Golf

1 Answer

My golf 1999 1.6 car suddenly can't start. I turn in the key and the fan is running but the engine won't start. For some reason, I just changed a new engine and a new battery. There is no problem with the electricity. There is no problem with openning the door, the window and all the other electric powered stuff. Somebody said it might the problem with the fuse and some said it might be the problem with the spark plug. Can anyone help? Thank!

Hello Joe,
If the engine has over heated it may have blown the head gasket, you say the engine noise changed and you have power loss, get a mechanic to check it and try not to drive it

Acura tl 3.2 1999 engine fan comes on after I turn the car off (and usually if i have been running the A/C) This has not happened before but started about 3 weeks ago. Fan stays on about 10 mins after...

Most engine fans will come on and run after the engine has been turned off. It does that to cool the engine and is run by a temperature control. This is perfectly normal.

I got a 1999 chevrolet tahoe. when i put the key in the ignition the head lights, and the dash light comes on but it won't even turn. i change the starter and got a new battery and it still won'

well if you have a dvom/voltmeter check the power at the starter terminals. the main terminal should have power all the time the key wire should have power only when the key is turned to crank engine. if you have power at both then i would start looking at grounds

I have replaced the camshaft sensor, Crankshaft sencor, computer, crankshaft pully, and new spark plugs on my 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse and it still won't start, what could it be?

Engine needs spark, fuel and air to run. I assume the starter is turning the engine over. Have you verified you have spark at the plugs? Have you verified you have fuel pressure? Can you hear the fuel pump when you first turn the ignition key? If, yes to those, check the timing belt settings to make sure something hasn't caused the timing to change.

My 1999 toyota camrey just started overheating all of a sudden. I added water, don't see any leaks. The fans won't come on until I turn on the a/c then both fans come on. I drove it down the road...

well it sounds like your coolant temp sensor is bad that is what turns your fans on and on also since you are going to loose rad fluid when you change sensor replace thermostat to simple and cheap both thermostat usally right were the upper rad hose meets engine block aka water outlet and the coolant temp sensor is located in the side of the block also cheap and easy to change

if it helps please leave 4 thumbs up

Got into my vw golf 1999 and started car then tryd putting it into gear but it wont change into drive its got some kind of lock and it locks the stick in??? and then after trying so much i give up and then...

it's the brake pedal that has to be pushed. It the 1990's just about all car makers started using this safety feature. Ever been at the store and someone left their car running with kids still inside and they are pretending to be driving then all of a sudden the car is at the cash register next to you waiting to buy a slurpy? This is one of the reason, but not the only one. When you push the brake pedal it energizes the solenoid on the shifter allowing you to pull out of park. Try turning the key on, turn off the radio, a/c off, close the door and push the brake pedal slowly, it only takes enough pressure to activate the brake lights to make it work. Try listening for a click sound by the shifter. I'm not to familiar with the VW's so I don't know exactly where the solenoid would be but it makes a click sound when it releases. It could be jammed with dust, dirt, trash, loose wire, bad brake pedal switch or bad solenoid. Hope this helps. Dale
