How to read codes on a 1994 Chevy K Blazer without a code reader?

Yes OBD1 can be read without a reader. The CEL will blink to indicate the code to you. Do a google search to find the code.

Could be a few things. First off, are you getting a Service Engine Soon light? If so I would get the read out code from that to help narrow down your problem. You can always head to an auto parts store and usually they will let you borrow a OBD II code reader for free.

If you have not already. Check your air filter and Mass air Flow sensor. Make sure its not plugged up and causing the MAF to cause problems.

If your talking about the Check engine light. You will need a CHEVROLET OBD I code reader. the auto makers used their own style of ports and language until OBD II in 1996. The code reader can be purchased at most auto parts stores and it isn't very expensive.

This is not possible without an error code reader Unless you have check engine or service engine light Then you can hotwire the port for connecting scanner
and it will flash the code to you using the check engine light on dash
But its quicker to use a reader.
Different car models you can get to flash codes to you contact you car dealer to enquire about it.

hey did you ever figure out what the problem was, i have a chevy blazer with the same symptoms...need to know if its worth the money to fix.

SRS is for the air bag. Thje computer is detecting a problem with the air bag. Read the codes. If you dont have access to a code reader then take it to a shop and have the codes read

The check engine light is turned on by the ECM. (computer) Make sure the bulb is good. For a 1989 you don't need a code reader, just an ALDL grounding tool to read out codes.
