Question about 2001 Ford Focus
I went camping last weekend and my a/c worked fine. This week I turned it on one morning and noticed it was not cooling as well. I went to the auto part store and got freon. When i went to install the freon i noticed it was kicking on and off every few seconds which is a sign of low freon. I added the freon and it got cooler. I drove the car and parked it. When i got back in it and turned on the A/c it would not come on. The clutch would not engage. I tested the power at the A/c and overload switch and could not get any reeding. No power. I have checked all the fuses and they are ok. The fan and green light comes on when i push the button on the dash. I can turn the clutch by hand under the car. I must be overlooking something??? can someone help??
These cars have a switch that shuts down the compressor when it is overfilled. (to much pressure) take it to a shop and have them correct it. There is no way to do this yourself with out a set of gauges and they are more expensive than what the shop would charge to do it
