Intake manifold runner position sensor?!!

I got these two fault codes.
P2008 - Intake manifold runner control circut/open bank 1
P2015 - Intake manifold runner position sensor/switch circut range/performance bank 1

I was told that it is my G336 sensor but where is it and what exactly is wrong with it? My car drives fine but should I be worried? and is it expensive to fix?

All the oxygen sensors are mounted on the exhaust system. Bank A /one basically means the sensor before the catalytic converter. Bank one usually refers to the left-side of the vehicle if you are facing the vehicle in the hood it would be your right side. Good Luck

on the passenger side of the engine you will see 2 small metal rods at the top of the engine just below the intake manifold there are little white clips that hold the rods on these clips usually break and the rods come off

the information is from the air sencoir onthe cat see exhaust. if you have a turbo .check hose from turbo to intercooler and clean check hose from intercooler to inlet manafold and clean if oil water mix found clean and check intercooler you may find oil and water mix

THERE IS A VALVE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD THAT OPEN THE RUNNER.IT HAS A VACUUM LINE TO IT.FOR IT TO BE STUCK OPEN EITHER THE SOLENOID IS BAD,THE VACUUM LINE IS BAD OR THE RUNNER IS GUMMED UP WITH CARBON AND STUCK OPEN

When you have an extremely high idle and code p2008 shows up what could the problem be


Without knowing what car you have it gets difficult to be specific, however since usually p2008 is dealing with intake manifold runner control, and you have a high idle...Id say you may possibly have a loose or broken vacuum hose to runner control...with the vacuum off the runners cant be regulated...and the air leaking in through the bad/open hose will raise idle. check vacuum hoses and runner linikage

What does all of that mean? Put simply, you have a carbon build up issue. Some have had their entire intake manifold replaced? I would have it checked prior to doing something that drastic, carbon build up can be repaired without part replacement in most cases.

code p2004 refers to intake manifold air control actuator bank 1---actuator stuck open===causes --wiring--intake manifold air control actuator --mechanical fault.
also refers to intake manifold air control solenoid bank 1 solenoid stuck open===causes--wiring intake manifold air control solenoid --- mechanical fault
you may be able to remove and clean the units to ensure they move freely otherwise replace them

P2004 intake man.control bank 1 stuck open


The intake manifold runner control (IMRC) cables have plastic ends that like to break. Check your IMRC to see if the cable it attached. If the cable s attached, then the IMRC actuator is probably defective. (see diagram)

Intake manifold Runner Sensor Bank 1 open- this sensor is located on the throttle body of the intake, make sure the wiring is not corroded or breaks in the wire connecting to it.If there is power present at it, replace the sensor.Please let me know if this helps

Check engine light in my '07 VW passat 2.0t is on. Got codes P2015 (twice) and P2008 (twice) and EVAP system code P0456. What are these codes? Thx Phyllis


P2015 - Intake manifold runner position
P2008 - Intake manifold runner control circuit
P0456 - Evaporative Emissions System - Small leak detected

None of these are urgent, just annoying. And common problems with Audi's and VW. P2015 and P2008 were likely due to a software/sensor glitch, and did not necessarily require a replacement throttle flap motor. P0456 could be due to loose gas cap, but also was likely caused by carbon contamination from the evap cannister. I have all 3 codes on my 06 passat, and just live with them. I would estimate around 1000k conservatively to track down and fix from dealership.
