Hi there it is me again. My fans were not working

Hi there it is me again. My fans were not working so I got a buddy to splice into my fan motor. He connected it to a 20 amp fuse but it blew the fuse. Now my 99 dodge caravan will not start. we put in some fuses and disconnected the fan wire but everything in the cab works. When you turn the key the van will not turover. Would it be possible that we blew a relay or is there a reset switch!!!!! Hope you can help
Thanks Philip

Hello there it is possible that you did blow the relays i would try putting in a new relay for the starter if that dont work then i woudl try lookin for the fuse if i remeber right there should b a fuse for the starter as well and i woudl run a hot wire right to the fan and make the ground wire the main wire to the switch that woudl make it safer from burning the wire that you are useing or blowing anything again

YOU WILL HAVE TO GO TO THE DEALER WITH THE SERIAL NUMBER AND TELL THEM THAT YOU NEED A PIGTAIL FOR THE ELECTRIC FAN. THEN YOU WILL HAVE TO SPLICE IN THE NEW PIGTAIL SO THAT YOU WILL GET A TIGHT FIT AGAIN ON THE FAN SO THAT YOU WILL NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM.

sounds like a shorrt to 12v to me. The wire is hot and the fan is shutting off because the blower is bad, getting to hot, it will bind, causing over amperage.

I replaced a climate control fan modulator on a 2003 jeep grand cherokee... jeep gave me one with a different wireing harness... i color matched the wires... the fan blows hard but not getting much air...

the wiring going into the fan motor itself are backwards. The fan isn't spinning the right direction. just switch these wires and it should work better

HIGH RESISTANCE IN THE BLOWER MOTOR CAN CAUSE YOUR PROBLEM, OR A BAD RESISTOR.
THERE IS NO REAL GOOD WAY TO CHECK THE RESISTANCE OF THE BLOWER MOTOR.

Trying to locate an electric fan motor for a 1998 grand cherokee 5.9litre

You want a fan motor from a 93-95 taurus or sable.

The fan connects to the motor differently so you will want to get a fan/motor assembly from a junk yard (I spent $15). You will transfer the plastic fan to your jeep. You can use either the old motor or get a replacement for about $70.

One other thing - the taurus/sable motor has a different electrical connector so you will need to do some splicing.

Total job took me about 15 min
