Question about 2007 Toyota Corolla

1 Answer

Loud, rumbling noise when A/C on

I just had the serpentine belt on my 2007 Corolla S replaced. It got a little warmer during the day, so I decided to turn on the A/C. When I was on the first two fan settings, there were no noises whatsoever. But when I turned it up to the third fan speed, there was a noise that came from in the inside of the car. When I changed the fan speed to high, it got even louder. This goes the same for when I turn on the heat in the car. Does anyone have any ideas on how or why this happened? Any help is really appreciated!

serpentine belt is getting old and hard and the cold weather was causing it to slip
check belt condition ( small cracks across the grooves = scrap and get a new one) and check tension

Serpentine belt problems

You may have a failed tension idler which the mechanic should have checked when replacing the serpentine belt.

Humming sound coming from serpentine belt area in 2008 chevy uplander

using a mechanics stethoscope check each running bearing while the engine is running. The normal noise will be a base rumble but if you hear one that is different to the others ( a series of knocks ) then suspect that as failing. The noise may be from the belt itself as it may be cracking or going hard and in need of replacement

Have loud noise from engine, gets louder w/more is an automatic,60k exhaust or muffler problem.

Serpentine belt tightener pulley bearing was bad, made a loud noise. I replaced the pulley (jobber part) and the noise level was reduced enough to notice the waterpump was also making a noise ... more revs = louder noise. I am now replacing the water pump. (approx 60k Miles too).

2006 Dodge Gr. Caravan. Loud humming noise upon

Misalignment of the belt, incorrect belt, worn or loose tensioner, Too tight of an adjustment (many service centers do this on purpose so when the belt breaks in it becomes properly adjusted, I do not believe in this philosophy), The belt is actually one long belt called a serpentine belt.....

Loose belt

If it is the belt, you need to buy a special tool made to relieve the pressure from the belt tensioner, As you do that the belt will slip off. Don't let anybody tell you that you can use a ratchet and socket to loosen the tension. If your tensioner is not designed to work like that, it will strip the bolt out. While you have the belt off, turn all of the pulleys and make sure that they are not the cause of the squeaking sound. Make sure to memorize where your belt goes, a serpentine belt can be very confusing to put back on if you don't remember how it came off.

My 1999 jeep cherokee belt squeals very loud when giving it gas and chirps a little when idleing

If you get the squealing noise even when car is not running, and if noise get louder when you push the accelerator pedal, then it is the serpentine belt.

You may need to put the belt in tension, or to replace it.

When you change out serpentine belt should you change out other items?

Dear Belt-Assassin..........first off......if you have successfully changed your serpentine belt on your corolla....CONGRATS!!! Welcome to the beautiful world of automotive repair!!!! When you change your serp belt its always a good idea to also inspect your pulleys and make sure none are bent or damaged in any way....also spin them to see if you have any excessive bearing can't miss that noise!!!!! It would actually sound like chaos with the engine runnin!!!! When ya change the belt.....a little attention to your internals of your motor wouldn't hurt....have you replaced the spark plugs? Those are quick and bout the engine air filter? Cabin air filter? Oil and filter? Take a peek at your coolant....should have a colored tint to it....does it look diluted? If so take and extra 20 minutes and drain and refill that......a little love goes a long way with an internal combustion engine....HOPE I HELPED!!
