Question about 2002 Ford Explorer

1 Answer

2002 ford expl. v6/4.0 code p0401egr flow insuf.

Is this a problem a novice mechanic(me) can address or should I take it to a mechanic. I have read some entries that have said it is simply replacing a valve.

66 chrgr- installed, cleared the code & now wait & see after some on/off engine cycles to make sure the code does not come back-thanks. do you have a solution for "door ajar" light that stays on & interior lights that sometimes stay on-same ford explorer. thanks

You have a bad DPFE sensor that controls the back pressure on the egr valve this is a simple fix and does not cost alot.dodn't let some one replace the egr valve because this will not fix the problem:]

on the drivers side of the engine toward the top if you by one then you can see what it looks like which will make it easier to locate.

yes most likely you have a bad drivers door latch there is a switch built in that sends a signal when the door is open. the switch is getting weak so replace the door latch your will have to take off the door panel though

2002 Ford Taurus has no reverse or forward gears everything I've read says its the torque converter could it be the shift solenoid or something easier to fix than the transaxel or torque converter?

Do you have any OBD codes? If so, what are they? If not, it is probably something mechanical like a bad torque converter or valve body.

I have a 97 ford escort 4 door, that just read code P1443 Is there anything I can do to fix this since the mechanics want to charge so much?

It is common for the EGR flow sensor to fail, which may be the cause of your problem, might be the EGR but not likely. try cleaning the EGR and replace the flow sensor

Error Code P0745
  • If the error code checker returns a P0745 code, it is indicative of a transmission issue. Error codes in the 700s refer to transmission problems. The P0745 error code refers specifically to a malfunctioning pressure control solenoid. This should be checked by a mechanic as soon as possible.

Replace your Pressure Control Solenoid, or take it to a shop and have them replace it. This can cause both of the codes you are experiencing.

    2002 FORD RANGER 6CYL. 4.0L I GOT A P1400 TROUBLE

Exhaust gas recirculation flow insufficient detected.
Maybe you got a bad DPFE sensor, or the pintel inside the egr valve is not opening all the way causing the insufficient flow.

While you can use hi-temp silicone ,a much better solution would be ,to purchase the proper gasket, for the application.
It will take the novice mechanic ,about three hour's to complete the task .
Read all of the directions ,and if need be, purchase a good shop manual.

This looks like typical Ford Issue of clogged Fuel filter or computer controlling the sparks on your spark plugs also
directs the timing so it could also be a sensor that works
with the timing of the Sparks. This assumes that you have enough fuel and good spark plugs.

CODE PO102 after Mass Air Flow Sensor replaced

Most faultcodes don't disappear automaticly, the have to be 'reset' manually after repairing. It sounds like the code didn't get erased after replacing the MAF. You could try to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes (disconnect and reconnect the negative (-) pole), which should erase the code.

Whenever the engine light still comes back on after that, there probably still is some (other) problem ...
