Where is fuel filter on 1995 Dodge Dakota

People keep saying, ck the fuel filter! Looked where everyone says it is, NOT there! Haven't found one yet! This is 318 5.2 ltr!

Actually, it isn't under vehicle, driver side, below bed area! Sorry, NO fuel filter there! Thanks anyways!

  • Lynn Burris Jun 21, 2009

Sorry Guru..., but I can take my camera I guess and take pics and send 'em to ya.., but traced EVERY inch of the fuel line, down the rail from front as far as you can get... all the way to the tank!, and there is NO "in line" fuel filter! Maybe it's one like it, on a V6?, or 5.9 ltr, but is NOT on this 5.2 ltr '95 model!

  • Lynn Burris Jun 21, 2009

On a 94 model, that is what I understand also, but this is a 95 model, 5.2 ltr 318 ... and we had the tank off before, couple yrs back when we lost power from the fuel pump, and took the pump out, and ck the "strainer", but was not a actual fuel filter in there either..., and there is NO..., "in line" filter on the rail, near the cross member, or any where else along the fuel lines underneath! Appreciating the help, but still No fuel filter! Thanks

  • Lynn Burris Jun 21, 2009

Thank you both for ALL reply's.., and we had decided and realized that IF there was a problem related to "fuel pump", we would have to "again" remove the tank! However; we really don't think it is anything to do with the actual fuel pump or any of this fuel assy. It is possible fuel pressure isn't correct, but have to find someone to ck it. It is very ironic, this started a few miles after filling up with gas!! .. and we tried complete fuel cleaning solution, but didn't fix the problem. The 02 sensor did look kinda bad, carbon...changed it, and the truck DID crank finally.., but it still has all the problems I've already posted! Might end up somewhere, for a diagnoses...?, but good grief, we're both disabled, and just don't have much money! Thanks again!

The 94 only has one filter and it's inside the tank
as part of the fuel pump module. I replaced mine by dropping the tank.
My tank was already close to empty so it was quick and easy. Took about
2 hours by way of dropping the tank, removing the bed if you have help
would be easy as well. good luck.

OK, i am sooo right on this one. lol
The fuel filter is located in the fuel line on the inside of the left frame rail, just ahead of the crossmember. and not in the tank. look closely at this picture and, please adjust the rating!

Ok, i have found the location. read carefully and check the picture as well. this is tricky but, this is the location.

The fuel filter is integrated into the fuel pressure regulator which is mounted in the fuel tank. This system eliminates the need for conventional return lines from the
engine bay and accounts for the name of the "Returnless'' fuel
injection system employed in these vehicles. The picture is below.

Fuel tank removal is required for this procedure. Also needed will
be external snapring pliers and proper hose clamp pliers, such as No.
    C-4124 pliers

1996 dodge dakota slt strats runs for a minute dies takes a minute runs again dies and so on so

It sounds like you a clogged fuel filter, or a weak fuel pump. Change your fuel filter if you haven't in a while.

If you have a timing belt instead of a chain, you will want to check the timing belt as well. If the timing is off even a degree, as the truck warms up the timing will advance and the truck will die.

If you have a check engine light on, have the codes scanned.

1995 dakota ,where is the fule filter

Your fuel filter is located on the fuel pump
you will have to lower your fuel tank and screw the fuel pump out
it sits on the bottom of the pump
if the pump is original you may need to replace it due to that they have changed the filter styles on the bottom the old ones are made more of a paper filter
the newer are more of a screen
hope this helped
get back to me if I can help you any further

Does the 1998 dodge dakota have a replacable fuel filter?

If it's like my 2000 dodge ram the answer is no. I asked the same question and I got yes and no from people all over. Finally, I just went to the parts counter at the dodge dealership and asked for a replacement fuel filter and after they looked up the schematic they said dodge never put one on there. Now, that isn't to say you can't put an inline one in if you really wanted to, but according to dodge they don't need one.
