Question about 2001 Pontiac Aztek

Pontiac Aztek Pressuer Control Solenoid

How labor intensive is it to replace a Pressure Control Solenoid on a 2001 Pontiac Aztek? I want to have it replaced when I change my trans fluid.

tcude1, I am a big believer in doing the trans fluid + filter change every 50K or so. My car is now at 138K and since it has an oil leak I might as well have the trans fluid and filter done while they are fixing the leak.

Why is it that dealers don't pull off trans pans to do a fluid change? They tell me that A) a vehicle over 75K is more likely to leak so they don't want to pull the pan off thus leaving the filter where it is B) Their machine is so advanced that when it sucks out the old fluid it gets it all, yeah right.

So the place I go to now will pull the pan and filter and side cover while they are at it, will they be able to flush the system thouroughly and make sure no contaminents are at the pressure switch area?

The best way to me is to replace filter so it can continue to do ist job, but, the problem with pc solenoid is not ussually debri. It is either shorting out or has open.oN VERY HIGH MILEAGE IT DOES NOT HURT TO PERFORM FLUSH 1ST ,then service filter.Little more exspensive.I am assuming this has a gm motor and trans. Some trans only have a screen not an accual filter. In that case flush is ok by itself.

How do the power steering hoses go on on a 2001 Pontiac Aztek and why is there no circular motion inside the pump

The only squared thing on the pump is the "plastic"
fluid tank... Everything else about the design & function
is "circular".

There is ABSOLUTELY circular "MOTION" inside the PUMP...
PLEASE NOTE... there is a giant pulley on the front..
and the design of the pump is all about rotational force of the hydraulic pump (right THROUGH the middle).

High pressure to the high pressure...
(with a possible cooler option in the middle)
Low pressure back to the reservoir

Only light on when starting it is security, and it will not crank over??

The sensors for the security go bad in those, about $80 cost and an hour labor to replace.

2001 pontiac when it shift it jumps and recently engine light on?

Transmission pressure control sensor. $30.00 part. Common problem with Azteks. You have to remove side transmission cover to access. Would advise taking to dealer.Cost for me with a tranny fluid and filter change & and sensor replaced was $232.00 ...not too bad for a dealer doing the work. (lol)
