Low coolant light stays on until system heats

Your overflow tank(aka coolant recovery reservoir) is low on coolant. The coolant expands when warm and raises the level in the tank, which turns off your light. Top off the reservoir (when cool) to the "Full Cold" line. If you have to keep adding on a regular basis, then you have a leak somewhere in your cooling system, could even be the reservoir itself.

The radiator should be totally full of coolant. There is also an overflow tank that is marked on the side how full it should be

Low coolant light coming on, overflow tank full

The sensor in the bottom of the coolant tank may need replaced, it tells how much coolant is in there. You will have to drain the coolant tank, remove the tank and you will be able to remove sensor.

Hi..my name is Keith..i have a 1997 Ford Taurus..and i also have a low coolant light on..but i have a small hole in my overflow tank and it wont hold fluid..but my car dont overheat either..just the light is annoying and i'll get around to fixing it oneday..so...the only things i can think of that has turned your light on is....1..that you need to put coolant in the overflow tank...2..you have a hole in your overflow tank(like me) or 3...the quanity sensor in you overflow tank is bad..so i hope this has helped

Leaking Coolant, but not from radiator???

is it possible it is your overflow bottle leaking or too full? If not These cars are bad about headgaskets. Start your car remove radiator cap and let it idle till it is up to temp and top radiator. If you have a leaking gasket or cracked head you would most probably see bubles and the water will try and come out of the radiator fill. What hapens on many is while your driving, combustion gases force the antifreez out into the overflow and it fills up and spills over.
