hi this is serbscot. with my experience with cars normally, if the compressor kicks in but not cold means it is either leaking or low on gas! if aircon does not kick in it sounds like compressor is faulty and most probably the bearing could be very noisy to turn even by hand, and with no ac gas circulating thru the unit it could be possibly throw away unless u get the unit rebiult,it can be costly! try a car wrecker u might come across agood unit but it might last for along time or it might not.unless u get awarranty.just remember ac gas circulating has a lubricant for longer life. hope this has helped and good luck!

What could be causing loud grinding noise when i switch on aircon? Aircon now not working but only makes loud sound.

Sounds like the bearing or part of the clutch in the A/C compressor has failed, or possibly component on a/c fouling on something due to recent repairs however would be unlikely and probably just a coincidence..

Check A/C compressor turns by hand, should be firm but not make any noises.

Check for fouling components related to a/c compressor clutch.

check the freon, if there isn't enough it won't engage, could also be the low pressure switch or a fuse.

Ac swith on copressor do not work

If the AC switch on the compressor doesn't work, then the system is likely low on refrigerant and won't operate it to reduce the chance of damaging the compressor, due to a leak in the system.

1999 vw beetle, a/c suddenly stopped working, fan blows and light comes on, but compressor doesn't

Have the aircon gas checked. If there is a leak in the system the pressure will be to low and the compressor won,t kick in. Re-gas aircon and check for leaks.

My mazda 2002 protege is running hot when ac is on

your car temp is hot because the air-con automatic fan/cooler on the condenser is not functioning. check the electrical connections from the switch as well as from the compressor. otherwise check the thermostat. the fan should run when the aircon is switched on.
