Yes i took it to a local place, they changed the filter, oil, and the gasket. They also told me that they had put some of the LUCAS stuff so the transmission won't slip.

It could be the TTC switch or the EGR valve it needs to go to a shop to see for sure.

I'm sorry a TCC switch it’s the tork converter lockup switch and is inside the transmission, and has to be serviced by a professional. Have you checked the oil level in the transmission?

    did that help?

Why does my nissan maxima stall when put in gear?

Typically this is due to a vacuum leak. (Yes, it could be tons of other things like the timing, fuel flow, etc. - but let's cover the easy stuff first).
There's enough power to keep the engine running, but once in gear the resistance of the torque converter kills the engine.
There are numerous little black hoses under the hood - about soda straw thickness. Look for any that have become disconnected or are brittle and may have broken.
You can also light an incense stick and pass it all over the area above the engine while it is idling, looking for anywhere that either sucks in smoke or blows against it.
When you find a disconnected hose, try to find a nipple to push it back on to.
You may also find a nipple or hole on the engine that is sucking in the incense smoke, but can't find a hose to attach to it. Just clean off the metal as well as you can and put a piece of black electrical tape over it and see if that makes the engine run better.

Car stalls when put in 'drive'

Check your air horn (big rubber boot) to the throttle body. It may have a crack on the underside and when you put it in drive and the engine torques to that side the crack opens and causes it to die.

1991 Caprice No reverse. Moves in neutral. All forward gears OK.

What engine? Rear wheel drive ?Sounds like shift linkage or cable out of adjustment slightly. Have a look at where cable or rod attaches to transmission for adjustment. If not sure of what your looking for get back to me with info.

My nissan maxima stalls

Every answer here is wrong. This has been driving people nuts for 15 years. The problem is the engine wiring harness which has a bend going past the right strut tower, Nissan had a service bulletin on this in September of 1999, Google it, it's in pdf.
