Well try turning the ac on & see if the fan comes on. It should. If not then you got a problem. I think these issues are not related. The temp sensor for the coolant gauge is probably bad. I think the fan works fine or you'ld be overheating alot.

Sounds like you probably need a thermostat. What kind of vehicle is it?

2000 caddy Seville ...after starting and engine warm turn on the heater and it blows cold air. Fan works / waiting for hot air and then all the sudden it kicks in. Engine at normal temp

Low coolant, if there is an air pocket in the engine it will make it to the heater core. Once there , the air coming out is cold/cool. Once the coolant fills the heater core, it gets hot. If the coolant is fine hot or cold, then have the HVAC system scanned.

SS w/3.8l engine. What would cause the first electric fan not run but when temp rises the second fan will come on?

The coolant fan should kick on when temp reaches 192 degrees. Have you changed your thermostat? The 2nd fan is for the a/c. If car is running hot, it's probably thermostat or cooling fan

Why is My 04 PT Criuser running hot and there is coolant in the radiator ?

check your cooling fans make sure they are working, to do this start your engine and turn on the ac the cooling fans should be running, if it does the next thing to check is the temp sensors, to do this turn off the ac, while the engine is running keep an eye on your temp gauge if the dial is going up above normal or at the point where you say the engine is running hot check if the cooling fans are running,
1) if not running, cooling fan sensor is not working, replace
2)if running, thermostat is shut, the thermostat regulates the flow of coolant in the engine it is fully open at normal operating temp and close if coolant is cold, replace

Cooling fan temp light stays on when air condition is on. fans are not kicking on. Is it the fan module ?

I didn't know it had a light on the dash that said "cooling fan temp".
My 93 doesn't.
The cooling fans are controlled by the computer and turned on when the ac is running or when the engine reaches 220 degrees.
A mechanic would check the fuse and relay for power and the fan motor for power and ground.

Engine coolant fans staying on, no codes, engine takes excesive time to warm up in cold weather. All fluid levels good

Have the temp sensor replaced its signaling fan to run. Make sure its the temp sensor to the cooling fan though

Cooling fan kicks on when start of vehicle, the temperature gauge wont read a temp, just stays at "cool". fans shut off when car is turn off.

PCM is probably not getting a signal from the temp sensor, so it's kicking the fans on just in case. Check connector on sensor. If connector is OK, replace sensor. The sensor is mounted on the thermostat housing near the end of the upper radiator hose. See picks of a couple engine examples below. The part is only $11 at autozone.com, and a pic is pasted below. I changed the air compressor and the dashboard control panel last year and it has done ok. Now the temp. fan and the compressor fan won't kick in and the air compressor won't kick in also. Checked all...

You say temp fan?If you mean the cooling fans, then the ac is out of freon most likely, the freon has to be in the system, and enough to kick the compressor on,therefore turning the cooling fan on.

check on the engine around the thermostat housing for a fan control sensor. if your engine fan doesn't come on when the a/c is on, then thats your prob.
