It probably needs to be pressed in & out. The hammer is only so good, lol. Make sure you tighten everything to spec too.

Well you don't say whether it's front or rear. Also, you need a hydralic press to change it right if it's a front hub bearing. You should have air tools as well to do this. I think, based on your response, you should not attempt this again, without professional assitance. You're gonna kill yourself or someone else if the wheel is flying off like that.

Replacing rear hub/bearing assembly on 2003 taurus with drum brakes/abs

The wheel bearings in a Ford Taurus are located in the hub/bearing assembly. Replacing the hub/bearing assembly is a straightforward process -- remove the brakes, then the bearing, and reassemble.

How do I replace the front wheel bearing in a 1995 ford taurus?

first off, sell the car and by another one, ford taurus is a very dear car to fix, let alone the wheel bearing will cost more then 2 tanks of gas, otherwise it is not an easy home doing job, you need special circlip pliers, a hammer at least a 3 tonne hydraulic press and a good eye for line up, most mechanics will do this but it is a bit hard to remove the actual wheel bearing if you never have done one. remember if the wheel bearing is one millimeter off it will grind like hell.

since this is a front wheel drive car i wouldnt really advise doing this by yourself unless youv done stuff like that before. I would say its not so much difficult as it is tedious work and requires some time to complete.

I have a 1999 blazer. It was making a roaring noise in the front end. Took it to a garage. They replaced the passenger side wheel bearings. This cost around $400.00 for parts and Labor. When I picked the...

Ask them why it wasn't a problem before the work that they did in that area, and if it normally needs replacement because of bearing work done, then why wasn't it done, and why should you pay the labor to pull everything apart again? Call your local parts store or dealer for price on part, so you know what they're charging you for labor. If it's 2 wheel drive, (repairpal.com) gives an estimate of about $75-$100 for labor & $50-$75 for parts.? Something not right here! Have you dealt with these guys before?

1996 Ford Taurus transmission "dumps " fuild

There are no guarantees when it comes to a rebuilt transmission or anything. They usually have a warranty for the work all depending on the mileage afterwards. Is it over it? Most likely the gaskets need replacing and the bolts tightened again.

Wheel bearing

The bearing might be a hub assembly in a Taurus, but it is a press in unit on a Focus. I have done it myself.

How to replace front wheel bearing on a 1996 ford aerostar

You knock the seal and races out with a drift. You put the new races and seals in by using something round, like a socket, to drive them in. Of course, the experts will say you must have special seal drivers and bearing race drivers, but I've been fixing my Fords for 40 years and I have done several of these with what I had laying around.
