The meter will jump when the engine isn't running proper. It sounds like a fuel pump issue to be honest.

BTW he did not charge me anything, made a new firend and customer.

I have a 1996 chevy geo tracker it won't start

Hi Leigh, Have the charging rate of the alternator checked. If you have a voltage test meter, select a voltage range above 15 volts DC and measure the voltage across the positive and negative poles of the battery. It will show a low voltage before the vehicle is started. Jump start and measure the voltage again. If the voltage is about thirteen volts or more, the problem is with the battery, which you'll need to replace. If the voltage across the terminals remains at the voltage first recorded before start up, the problem is with the alternator. Regards John

I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500. Once again, it wouldn't start. The battery was completely dead, and it would not even start with a jump. Replaced the battery, started fine. But, now the voltage...

Battery was completely dead ? after how long , over night , or just out of the blue ? These year GM vehicle's 03 to 06 have instrument cluster problems , draining the battery . Do you know what parasitic draw is ? Google it . They used lead free solder constructing the electronics , an after a while it causes silver migration .

Try jumping. Suspect battery or alternator. If you can jump it, use voltmeter to check battery voltage with engine running. If voltage is less than 14, your alternator is bad. If you don't have a meter, take the alternator to be tested.

My oil pressure gauge is bouncing all around on my 2003 Chevy Avalanche. It bounces from the low end to the high end and everywhere in between. Any idea what might be causing this?

Sounds like the oil pressure sensor. Thatt is the easiest thing to change. If not its the gauge. Put voltage to the wires from the switch and see if the gauge stops jumping and stays pegged, if it does its the switch Good luck

Ok i jumped it. It ask like its sucking for gas, then the battery goes dead Im thinking battery, or fuel filter or fuel pump or altenator

More like alternator, jump it again then remove jumper cables, with volt meter, check voltage at battery, that will be alternator output voltage, should have no less then 13 volts, if less bad alternator.

Chevy Avalanche won't start

If you're getting no power at all when you turn the key to start, try disconnecting the battery and then hook it back up. Chevy has had some problems with an ignition relay solenoid that's mounted under the driver's side dash. Disconnecting power could reset the switch....If that seems to be it, a replacement is around $250. at a chevy dlrshp.
